I have a cousin who seems to be really into these DDR games and as of right now, his only means of playing them are at the arcade. He wants to get a setup going for his PS2 at home.
What is the best and cheapest dance pad for him to get?
Also, his favorite DDR seems to be 7th mix. Is that scheduled for a US release? If so, when?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Okay, for the soft pads, most any one available in the store will work well enough, but first you should attach it to plywood and cover it with some of that plastic hardwood floor protector stuff you can buy off the roll at Home Depot.
As for the games, he should probably just go right ahead and get the US version of DDR Max. It's got over 70 songs, plus Oni mode as seen in the arcade version of DDR Max 2. Max 2 has been released in Japan, and a US version should be out around fall, but don't expect it to be anything resembling the Japanese version. That was the case with Max, but our version ended up being considerably better, anyway. Heh.

Damn login problems...
I'd say, if possible, just make a hard pad. Those little home pads break so easy if your cousin plays at any sort of high level.
Oh, and I don't much about DDR MAX for the PS2, but it seemed like a copy of MAX 2, so it's all good. Check it out.

On eBay you can find DDRmax and 2 soft pads for around 50 dollars shipped. They're everywhere, and it's a fine price. If your cousin decides he likes it, he can get better pads, and have a spare for friends.
