Check out the first segment of this old Xplay from 2001. It's about a startup called Xulu that planned a large scale massively multiplayer experience in a virtual solar system. There are a couple of of not very exciting looking games shown, like a glider game and a game that involves a dune buggy capture the flag. The most interesting thing, I think, was that the plan included specialized arcade/nightclubs and would allow people from home to play against the people at the arcades, which included complex looking multi-monitor machines with force feedback. The guy also claimed that one of their games included a whole planet spanning thousands of miles generated using fractals, if I heard him right.

So, does anyone know what happened to this? Were any of these arcades built? All I found with some limited Googling was a few old press releases and the company's Web site, which still exists, but says the company is in stealth mode and can't release any information.
