Has anyone here played this game? My PS3 isn't getting much use as a gaming machine right now and I'm frankly getting really tired of shooting stuff in every game. I've exhausted my 360 options until Prince of Persia and Rise of the Argonauts (assuming they're worth playing). Little Big Planet is a buy when the price slides down twenty bucks or so.
Need something doesn't involve blowing away generic space aliens/Nazis/terrorists or Nazi Terrorists from Space. I want something with a bit of adventure and exploration involved. I've always had my eye on the game but never committed to it. Would anyone here say it fits what I'm looking for?
Thoughts? Opinions?

It could be... it is an an RPG but aside from story driven in the village sections of the game to find items to allow you to the next levels of the real game it is mostly "action" based. The story is mostly told through comic strip method but as cutscene.
It is more or less like a 3d real time pokemon where you catch monsters using other monsters(only certain monsters abilities can be used to defeat others). Many Folk require the use of a few different other Folk to weaken their unique defense/offense so that you may catch them. You then use those Folk to get through the game all the while running around dodging attacks in real time or using folk to deflect incoming attacks. You use the six axis to pull the soul out of the Folk to get the new Folk(if used on Folk you already have it regens your power bar).
There are two characters to play as (girl is more laid back strategic like magic user, male is more in your face action). I enjoyed the game..
here is video to show you what it is like

Ah, alright. I'd seen the review it was given up here by Reviews on the Run so I understood the basic premise (thanks for the explanation though - very thorough). The premise sounds promising but not exactly what I'm looking for.
What happened to all the great 3D exploration in games? Team ICO need to get themselves in gear.

Yeah, this one's definitely a pass. I gave it a fair shake, but it felt sort of like a much crappier Phantom Dust...needless to say, it really doesn't say much to your benefit when you're outclassed by a last-gen game that launched at $20.
I enjoyed the game up to a certain point, but then it got frustrating and a little repetitive. I'd say pick it up if you see it for a good price.

Phantom Dust. Now THERE'S a game that needs some kind of sequel. I sunk at least a hundred hours into that game when I got it a few years back. Really should pop it in again and give it another whirl.
Thanks for the impressions guys. If I happen to see Folklore around for about $20 I might drop the cash.

I was excited about this one until I played the demo. There is no voice acting. This may sound lazy but since all RPGs now speak to me, I no longer feel like reading the messages...so this was a no.

My gripe with the demo was the controller shaking to pull the souls and stuff. That was annoying as hell to me.
Still, I stumbled on the game for $15/new, so I picked it up with the intention of giving it another good shot.

I found a new shrinkwrapped copy for twenty bucks(I picked up Lair as well, but haven't opened it), so I gave it a shot.
It's not bad. I'm glad I didn't pay full price, but I actually liked having to 'fish' the souls out of enemies. It's one of the few good sixaxis implementations to date.
I think the enemy design is neat too. I don't know if I'm going to actually beat it, but I'm having fun at the moment. For twenty bucks I'd say it's worth the price.
