I'm having a bit of trouble running Smash TV in MAME on my computer. I ended up buying a wired 360 controller to use for MAME, and I can't get it to work at all for Smash TV. I wasn't sure what to map the right analog stick to for firing, but even the left stick, which was set to moving, wasn't working either! The controls work without a problem in other games, also. Is there a special set of controls I have to map to for Smash TV?

Any help would be appreciated.

Go into the cfg folder and delete the Smash TV file. Then try to re-map the controls.

I haven't used a new version of MAME in a while, I just assume that's still how it works.

Tried it, but no dice.

Does Robotron work with the control set up you're attempting? Black Widow? Space Dungeon?

After MUCH trial and error, I was able to perfectly map a PS2 controller's analog sticks for Smash TV / Total Carnage.

It's absolutely doable, if you have the patience.

As far as I know the firing controls for Smash TV aren't analog, they're switches. This is how the 2 joystick setup works. Instead of Jamma buttons 1,2,3,4 it's up down left right on the 2nd stick. This is why the SNES version you use the buttons to fire in that direction.
