Nah, it's just the redesigned Master System that lacks a card slot and has Alex Kidd or Sonic the Hedgehog built-in.

First, it's from the seller who sells resealed SMS games and passes them off as "factory sealed".

Second, the console was released in early 90's in the US, but with Alex Kidd in Miracle World. It is gray in color with a white PAUSE button. RF to connect to TV, so no AV connectors like the original one. No Sega Card slot either.

That version is the UK version.

I got one of these a few weeks ago for $20.00.

I don't think they're rare at all. I just checked the rarity guide and its listed as an R5 (value of $30.00 complete). The Europe version with Sonic included is listed as an R1 (value of $8.00 complete). These values sound a little low, but either way the system isn't rare.

The grey system posted above is fairly tough to find, since the Master System was beyond the grave at this point when Sega attempted a re-release. The regular US Master System usually outnumbers this on the 'bay at least 20 to 1, probably more like 30 or 40 to 1.

But even then, the price doesn't go excessively high. Although I had one from many years ago ($20 at KB Toys), I purchased another one on Ebay for around $30 with controllers and all cords. So even though it's not as easy to find as the first model, it doesn't go terribly high either.

Unless newbie SMS fans hike the price to exorbitant amounts...like what happened once to games like Great Volleyball (US edition, and sold for...$50+!!!) and Ninja Gaiden ($80+? What the...?)
