View Full Version : What to do with Suikoden II Case & Instructions?

I need some advice.

I've already mentioned this "find" in the Dec. 2008 Finds thread. But for those who haven't read it yet, here's a brief summary: I found Suikoden II in a thrift store yesterday. However, when I opened the case I discovered that someone had stolen the game disc. The cashier gave me the case & manual for free, but now I'm wondering what to do with them.

I figure I can either:

A) Hold on to them and hope, by some miracle, that I come across a disc only copy some day.

B) Sell or trade them for something.

Does anybody know whether the case & manual are worth anything on their own?

Thanks!

I'd keep it...you just never know. You could run across a loose copy on ebay for a good price. It doesn't take up much room, its not hurting anybody so I'd keep it.

for a game that sells for as much as Suikoden II does, the case and manual would definitely be worth something. I'd guess on the order of $20-30.

i've seen the disk sold by itself several times, just hold onto it. You never know what you'll come across down the road, also check the buy/sell forums as theres proably someone out there who's either looking for the case/manual or is selling a disk only copy,.

I would also keep it and just snag a disc-only later on down the line. If you need money, though, I would guess you could get ~$20 each for the manual and disc. Definitely sell them separately to get top dollar.

Also, when I read your post in the finds thread I felt so bad for you. I can only imagine how crushed I would be to have that happen to me. I get really mad when I come across games without discs that I don't even want!

The thing that really sucks is that you know someone just stole it because he saw it was a game. He had no idea what it was, he just thought "Playstation, I can probably sell that". I see it all the time at my local Goodwill.

Keep them.

You can fetch the CD only for much less than in combo.

I had this situation work out well for me before. I found a X-Com: UFO Defense case and manual, but it had NHL 97 or similar in it. Pawn shop gave it to me on the cheap, a few weeks later I found a loose X-Com disc.

Went together like chocolate and peanut butter.

I say keep it and hope for the best.

If you got it free, better keep it :D

Even if its only the box, its like a treasure, hehehe

yep - you can always put it on a shelf somewhere and brag about it --- its not like anyone will know there is no game in it. :)

I also say hold onto it as well. Don't be surprised if you see the Suikoden II disc at the same thrift store but in a totally different jewel case. One of the thrift stores around here does that occasionally, who knows why.

keep an eye out on ebay. If its a game that you have been looking for, I'm sure if you are patient, you could find the disk only for cheap and you'd end up with an inexpensive copy of Suikoden 2. I've never seen the game in real life personally.

For once I'll agree with the majority....keep it. You will find your disc only copy either on ebay or here at the forums. However, if you do decide that you need money, much like a college degree you can fall back on that case and manual for some extra spare cash:)

heh...i found a japanese gensosuikoden II that was missing the disk at a local goodwill years and years ago, and was never able to trade or sell it, even for a modest price. i ended up giving it away to someone for the cost of postage a few weeks ago.

and yeah, i think i opened up every other CD case that was in the rack that day. :)

Thanks for all the advice guys! I've decided to hold on to them for now. Even if I don't find the disc, at least they will look nice beside my empty Lunar SSSC and Lunar 2 boxes!

You never know what you'll find or when/where you'll find it. A disc-only Suikoden II will come, and when it does, you'll be ready.

And when you complete your Suikoden II, celebrate by playing it.
