Quick FF VI Question

Ok im at Ebots Rock just before facing Hidon. Your meant to be able to steal a thornlet from it, but the only thing i can steal is a warp stone, after that it just says "doesn't have anything". Whats wrong? Before i gave the chest the coral it was satisfied but i went down to save at a save point and return. Then i re obtained the coral, cause the chest reappears. Now when i try to steal from Hidon im only getting the warpstone, but i kind of doubt it not have a thornlet cause i went off that screen? ANy help?

Alot of enemies in the game have both a common and rare item to steal. Unlike some later FF titles, the enemy won't have an item to steal once either is stolen. Equip the Sneak Ring to raise the success rate and just keep reloading until you get the rare item is my guess.

Yeah i was thinking that at one point, but usually (if i remember correctly) you can steal both the rare and common items from the enemy on FF 6. If its true for Hidon that only one can be stolen the other can't is this a discrepancy or is it just for the uber rare stuff? Can any one shed some light for confirmation?

I'm pretty sure you can steal both the common and rare item on an enemy. I haven't played this game in several years however.

In ff6, you can only get 1 item per enemy. If you get the wrong item you want, the rare, then you must reset and try again.
I think your thinking of ff9, where you can keep stealing to get all items from a enemy before you kill it.

Yeah thats what i thought. But then why am i only getting the warp stone and not the thornlet?

the thornlet is the rare steal, rare meaning it doens't come that often, be sure to try to steal from each of his hidonites btw, as thier rare steal is the same.

also if you kill hidon you can always come back later and he'll be back (you just have to talk to the guy in thamasa near the entrance)

Can you still get stolen items from him after fighting him after you kill him the first time? I seem to remember that you can't, but its been so long....

you can get infinate thornlets from him. even after you obtain grandtrain, he comes back after a set amount of time, just talk to the guy in thamasa every time you enter and he'll let you know that hidon is back.
