Can you clean a game gear screen?

I picked up a blue game gear a few weeks ago and I finally tested it today. About 1/8 from the top are lines running horizontally across the screen, it looks like 4 or 5 lines. At the bottom of the screen it looks like liquid has soaked up into the screen. the lines a not perfectly horizontal. it looks like a blotch. Can I clean the screen or is it a lost cause. Thanks for any help.

if its just stains on the top of the screen you can try to scrub them off with rubbing alchohol.
