View Full Version : Alternate uses for those dirt-common Atari 2600 games.

Here are my alternate favorite uses for Atari 2600 commons.

HOMERUN DERBY!
Baseball is fun to play. Why not make it more fun by shattering Atari 2600 commons? Take a bucket full of Combats to your local ball-park and go to town. Cherry-bomb them, or have a gutsy person pitch them to you. Just make sure you're wearing glasses or shades or goggles or something.

4TH OF THE JULY
The best way to celebrate kicking some British ass is proven to be blowing up copies of 2600 Pac-Man. Here's a fun way to do it: take a festival ball (aka Morters, aka cannon balls), stick it down the tube, then stick your favorite 2600 common over the top of the tube. Well the firework goes off, it will launch the 2600 common sky high without risk of the firework blowing up on the ground. Bonus points if you can catch the 2600 game before it lands.

DOMINO RALLY
The old time-wasting stand by. How many can you topple in a row? I think I've done 100 before.

My last batch of 102 Combat Carts went for $70.00 on ebay. So there's my answer.

ya, smash those combat carts EVERYBODY. I will keep mine, so that I have the rarest most wanted carts alive!!! hahahahah. I'm retarded

Yep, just remember: Every 4th of July your Atari 2600 commons get just a little rarer. Plus everytime I get bored, which is often. Hell, my cousin bet me $20 I wouldn't have the guts to pitch him a rare Atari 2600 game. I won. Snoopy & The Red Baron didn't (ok, it's not THAT rare, but you get the picture).

BTW, I have done the fireworks thing I mentioned above, and believe it or not, the cart does not shatter upon impact... those little carts are fucking tough.

Hmm.. He's posted about it in buying & selling and in the eBay forum, I believe..
Can't think of the userid, but I *think* it was the guy who first had Darth Vader as his avatar, and then switched it to James Earl Jones... I may be wrong!
I'll go try a search.

Dave2236 here mentions it, but I'm pretty sure someone else has before.

Boy, what a total waste of carts that could be used for something better, like homebrews...

I was thinking of making a desk out of SMB/DH carts (Since I mainly collect NES games) but I figured that I would need about 100 games to make the desk. I only have about 10 SMB/DH carts right now and would need to find some cheap or free games to add to it, but I don't see any that cheap around here (my hometown) anymore. :(

WOW someone is talking about me. I feel so important...sniffle...Just for the record, I do see Darth Vader all the time. He lives 20-25 min away and hes the one that got me hooked on DP forums and Collectors guide.

Also for all you gaming carts activists, I do not hurt any carts when I make my furniture. Maybe a few are wounded but no carts are killed in the making of furniture.

Building my SMB / DH coffee table is one of the things I want to finish this summer. I also want to do my spiderman and venom halloween costumes, build my pcs and set up my LAN, fix my exhaust, clean my room, make a star wars fan film, and like 20 other things. I will deffinately post the pics when I get done with the table.

Also AdamG if you want a SMB/DH cart i'll mail you one :) I'll even throw in free track and field ALL ON 1 CART :-D

Actually awhile ago, I thought I saw new repair kits for 2600 controllers. It was new metal clasps that are on the board. I don't know, I could be wrong. MODS I need your help, did anyone else see those 2600 repair kits?

A few summers ago when my place was in danger of becoming a hangout with everyone in the area coming over to play NES, I was going to throw a party and use SMB/DH carts as invites.

You could do the same with 2600 commons.

I recall getting my copy of "I Am Humanoid" and finding a SMB/DH cart taking up the rest of the space in the box... good idea, using it as package ballast.

My friend Justine took all of his carts and made a giant "Space Invader" on the wall of his game room. One cart= One pixel

Send me a pic of Mr. Combat man and I'll see what I can do about the MRS.

I dont have many combat carts, only about 20 so I dont think I will be building her anytime soon.

I wonder if a Combat cart could withstand a deep fat fryer without melting?
