I have done a search.. I dont see an official list, just a bunch of posts?

Basically I know this store liquidating, selling all games for 5$-10$, and I want to grab like 200+

Games I know of (I am kind of a ps1 collector right now) that are rare that he has are:

Clocktower
Kodelka

but he has boxes and boxes of games.

Any1 have a link? or games rare/worth a lot.

Thanks!!

Hm.

I'm guessing you either attended or heard about our "blowout" of games at VGXpo in Philly. That was a liquidation of overstock, not a liquidation of the store. If you missed it, you missed the rock bottom prices.

However, you can get almost rock bottom prices on any given day by just visiting the store.

Digital Press Videogames
387 Piaget Ave (Rt 46 E)
Clifton, NJ 07011

PS We don't have Koudelka or Clock Tower for the PS1 in the store at this moment. Someone called for these games two days ago, we didn't have them then, either. These games seem to be popular this week! Still, either you OR him could get really lucky one day and ask on a day when they get traded in.

Hey, you never know.

I don't understand, are you just looking for the online rarity guide? Go to digitpress.com and click Online Rarity Guide in the left menu.

I was going to recommend this, but then I realized the rarity guide is really out of date for the Playstation... unless someone knows of some secret version of eBay where you can get complete copies of Final Fantasy 7 for PS1 for only $10.

where abouts in ontario is this store? And I think that there are a few books from others available on amazon. Not sure what they are called, but I remember seeing some a while back.

Dude, if they're $5 each, get all the ones you are interested in. What does it matter if some are rarer than others? I'm assuming they aren't brand new/mint/sealed, so they probably don't have much resale value beyond what you're gonna pay anyway.

Use this for a 'rarity' basis. http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/search.cmf

Some of the stuff is going to be spot on price wise, others arn't. Since it sounds like you're planning on a resale check ebay and the like to see if its worth trying to turn.

I'm in agreement with Bojay1997, if you've got the cash and want that many games, the go to town.

@Chainclaw... if you don't shop on ebay for FF VII you'll have a better shot at getting a copy for less that 40-50 that they go for there. It's one of the most common PlayStation games and Advent Children/Crisis Core ect boosted its price out of sight and then people kept paying that much for it after their hype died down. I won't continue to rant on its absurd price in here. Either way, the rarity of the PlayStation stuff is quite on the money... even if the prices arn't all your ebay exact (which is not their intention in this guide anyways).

Your problem is that you don't seem to have any kind of list of what he's bringing. You could easily see 300 sports games by the sound of things. I don't know where you're going to store it all... hell my stuff is spread across 2 houses at the moment, but thats neither here nor there. You're the one buying 200 games. I personally don't toss 1k around on games without knowing where its going, what i'm getting and what i'm going to do with the rest of it.

Them being mint doesn't change a whole lot. If its mint boxed SNES games, then that could be a factor (if its not a crap title), but the more modern stuff takes the games being complete as part of the equation for what's needed for a game to be worth all that much (most of the time).

Since you're unsure about what your getting, buy the stuff that you either,
A. Collect
B. RPG's / Fighters / Shoot-em-ups (not FPS games, the Top down type)
C. The good well known franchises. Its harder to go wrong with Mega Man, Castlevania, Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, ect.

what I've always done to figure out what games are are in demand, how rare they are, is this: check the online rarity guide here at digitpress. check the system you want, and make sure its the US library. search the games by rarity, and check the descriptions of those games. Once you find games you are interested in, start checking them out on ebay completed listings. Not all rare games are worth money, and sometimes games with low rarity can be worth a lot. RPGs for the SNES and PS1 usually are worth something at least. Also check the videogames on ebay and search by price highest to lowest. Just remember that just because its listed for a certain price, doesn't mean thats what its worth. But if there are a bunch of people selling the same game for high prices, chances are that it is worth getting if its only $5-$10.

hehe I know sport games are worthless... I told him no sports/wrestling @ the beginning (although I know there is 1-2 old hockey games i think that have some value).

Sorry for confusion, but i didnt mean that I was going to buy 200random games.. Im gunna be picking them lol. But because he is driving an hour an a half to get to me, I need to tell him what I want somehow.

so far what I said was:

If it says "Square Soft" "Square Enix" "Capcom" "SNK" "Marvel" on it, then I want it

Any other RPG's I want (but he doesnt know what an RPG is... lol)

I see FF7 off eBay all the time. eBay is often the cheapest I see it for, even compared to the flea markets where I usually get tons of crap for cheap. I'm not complaining about the price, it's completely understandable why it's hit that price, I was just pointing out the price disparity between the guide and the real world. I doubt FF7 will go down in price anytime soon, either.

That is very very untrue.

Ive seen black label copies go for 40$ (in store)

Basically what happened was:

Store owns 2copies (minimum) of FF7. 1black 1 green.

I look into the store, look at both copies, green has a price tag of 40, black has a price of 90.

I look at the condition of the discs.. he (PUTS THEM IN INTERCHANGEABLY!!) (ie: better copy (GH/BL) of Disc1 can be bought with the better copy of Disc 2 (GH/BL) etc... There is a difference on the disc itself. But, he said "If you want in this case, then 90. If you want in GH case then 40$" now that was weird.... but it is doable to get a BL for 40$ (just wont have the case lol)

On-subject, if you're going to be searching through a giant pile of Playstation games, you're probably not going to have the time to check individual titles against a rarity guide, anyways.

Aside from the brands already listed, also be on the lookout for anything Working Designs. This mainly applies to PS1 and PS2 games.

For any system, usually Atlus games are worth something.

If the game is in one of those multi-disc sized jewel cases, it might be worth something. This really only applies to PS1 games, of the systems you listed.

With the guy just looking to liquidate, maybe you can offer him $2000 for the whole pile of games. That's the 200 games at the $10 price point you were going to spend.

First, my FF VII rant, since it's come up.

May as well throw out there that in my travels, I have found a few copies copies of FF VII for under $10. I mean, seriously...there are over 200 auctions for FF VII for the PlayStation on eBay right now! There is ZERO reason for it to still "be worth" anything over $20. I mean, it's got a greatest hits release?!?!?! Get real people!

Ok, rant over (I need to do that every once in a while), now to the issue at hand.

Get everything that looks interesting and fun. I'd also say...get games that right off the top of your head you don't recognize. I mean, we all see certain games over and over at stores, to the point where our eyes just glaze over them, but sometimes there will be that one that makes you go "Ooh! That looks interesting." Get that game.

Did you even click on the link I provided earlier? Click it, and then search NES or SNES and set a $value that you want it to find everything that pulls that much or more. A 30-40 buck value per NES or SNES game is going to remove most of them though. Most arn't worth nearly that much.

I really don't think its in your best interest to just dump a ton of $$ without knowing what you're buying. You're going to end up taking it in the shorts, more than you will be turning it for a huge profit like you are thinking you are going to.

I'm sorry, but now you're becoming very annoying. We've all given you advice and pointed you in the right direction to find the info. Frankly, your entire plan sounds dumb and there is no way I would just start randomly buying things I know nothing about with the intent of opening a store down the road. Why don't you ask the guy for a complete list, take that list and do some on-line searches to figure out what various items are worth. Asking people to pre-load you with values or info about what games to look for in some random box is ridiculous.

"We've all"... sorry but you havent given me your input before this msg.
As for everyone else, they have pointed me in the right direction (thanks a lot) and I will most likely purchase all his games.
Well Ive taken a "sample" (although I know this could be the better games to lure me in) and using math (I am a math major) lets say I buy 2000games all worth 5$ each (worst case scenerio) that is worth 10,000$. Odds are there are tons of games worth above 10$, and some worth above 50$.
Your right, asking people to pre-load me with values or info about what games to look for in some random box is ridiculous, but you do find hidden gems at a garage sale do you not? Are you not looking in a box or something similar for games? I beleive there is an article about someone who spent 40$ at a garage sale and sold some of it (not even all of it) for $2,000
I dont know too much about NES/SNES games and that is why I ask questions about what has worth, what does not, what is rare etc...
As stated a few times earlier, I am a PS1 collector, and although I have a small collection (only worth $2,000 or so) I am interested in expanding and opening up a store one day. In doing so I need to learn about other consoles right?
Next time you have something to say such as "your getting annoying" you better have had some msgs sent to me previously or it just doesnt work :P

edit: BTW, the seller lives on a farm or something. He doesnt own a computer, a camera, not even a cellphone...

He goes to the lib to use the computer. There is no chance he'd list 2000games for me...

You can try this site to find averages;

As for PS1 games, most are barely worth $5 each. If you're buying in huge bulk they should be cheaper, like $1-$3 per game. If this guy ran a store most likely the good stuff sold already, maybe there would be the odd good/valuable title but I doubt it. If you have time, search each title out to find out the value/demand for them.

Keep in mind if you're running a store, know the local demand for this stuff. I'm generally in the same area as you and I don't see much demand for PS1 games, barely any on the local craigslist or Kijiji. I still see EB Games with PS1 games sitting untouched, priced around $2.99-$9.99. Only specific titles are in demand, and they're pretty much RPGs, Castlevania, Skull Monkeys, Discworld, etc. Pretty much if you haven't heard of it, it's not valuable(stores work best with popular games, not so much rare games).

Actually, I have given you my input in several messages above the one you were responding to. Other people here have given you all the links to the helpful guides. That's what I meant by we have all since this is a community and most of us know each other pretty well. Instead of changing the topic constantly and rambling on, take the guidance you have been given and use it. I grew up @ woodbine & 16th.. i prob seen you before lol.
Basically his "deal" is 5,000$ for all his comics, video games, jewlery, some motocycle (not a motocycle..but whatever the smaller version is), some clocks :S wtf, jerseys (autographed) (and not autographed), artwork (comics/games signed). Theres about 2000 games, and 2000comics.

Also I was thinking about just buying them all (most are NES/SNES) then putting a value to them (i know its not the smartest thing to do) but if they are all worth 5$ alone ill be doubling my cash with the games alone... (puchase, then put value)

Just ask for a list of the games to make sure most aren't sports titles, or at the very least ask for high resolution pictures and try to make out most of the titles(I'm assuming the games are in boxes and you can see the tops of the labels). If most aren't sports games then go for it. There are some people willing to spend $5 for sports games, that's what they're priced at Value Village and they always sell for some reason. Just hope that they aren't all damaged ex-rentals. He should be willing to give you a list, you'd be spending enough on this stuff.

You might as well buy the bulk lot if the titles are decent, the other stuff might be worth $1000 or so if you're lucky. I doubt those autographed things are real. I think those are Pocket Bikes, they're not really street legal(plenty of people have them though). If you just want your store to be strictly video games you can sell off the other stuff in bulk lots afterwards, keep all the games.

Are you looking for bulk lots of Genesis games? I have a bunch I could sell you pretty cheap as a big lot(a lot are sports games though). Just PM me if you're interested, Woodbine and 16th is pretty close by(I'm assuming you're still near that area, or travel there).

Ahh... I can't do it. Good luck? OK maybe I can. I realy don't like these kinds of people(sorry I don't know you) I LOVE VIDEOGAMES. I started collecting, then figured I'm payin 20$ for them. So now when I see good ones for cheap I have to pick them up to sell. To pay for more games.(im not rich) And hopefully get it to someone who will enjoy it. This guy only thinks he can make $. He doesn't even wonder whats in there to keep. Just to sell. The whole plan sounds stupid. I would not and will not offer any info to people like this. You can tell by him not knowing anything.

It sound suspicious? This thread is dead to me.:frustrated:
Thanx RASK1904:rockets:

Sorry guys I think I have not been clear or I am not saying what I mean to say.

I am a PS1 collector right now (small time, but still a collector). I am also a math major.
I just bought 44 PS1 games (10$ each..total 440$ with free delivery).
and he's like instead of buying them @ 10$ each (it would have been 5$ if i picked up randoms.. 8 if i chose what i wanted (which i did)). He said "Why dont you just buy everything for $5,000 then sell what you dont want, and keep what you want?"

Then it got me thinking... as I want all PS1 games (which i doubt will ever happen...but its still a goal!) and 2 members have already PM'd me saying if i get good NES/SNES games, they'll trade me for PS1 games (makes me think that some members understand whats going on through my mind, and some dont).

If I get 2000games for example, sort through them. Sell the games on ebay or whatever that is worth 2$-15$, then trade with members who have the PS1 games that want my NES/SNES

as for the autographed stuff.. it comes with the certificate of authenticy so its good...

and its not a pocket bike, he told me what it was... i just didnt want it- but since its part of the package, if i can get 200 or something for it, then im fine

I understand perfectly well what you've said. You've not understood what many of us have said.

Of course people are going to want the good NES/SNES games if there are any, but that will leave you with alot of crap. Hell i'd want some of those good PS games that i'm still missing for MY collection if I didn't have them. I'm guessing that if you toss 5k at all this 'stuff' you're going to be left with alot of things you're not going to be able to move. He's gotten your interest with some PS games, but as I've said before i'd not toss any kind of money at stuff that i've not seen, especially when i'm not sure of its value in regards to reselling.

The time investment in moving say 2000 videogames be it on a forum like this, or on ebay is going to be a monumental task. With the state of the economy stuff is moving for way less than it did 8 months ago... or just not moving at all.

I know you're looking at the benefits of getting a load of stuff like this, but I don't think you've factored in all the costs.

I think i'm done here, but good luck with whatever you end up deciding to do, you'll need it.
