I have these in my collection of random stuff but I know next to nothing about them. Anyone feel like filling me in on some background information?

Close-up pictures of the back of the box (especially of any screen-shots) would be helpful for identifying the hardware.

The "Lysspil" one looks like it might be an R-Zone clone, judging by the way it functions.

I got TV Boy, TV Boy II, and Super TV Boy, and they were the first Plug and Play containing VCS titles. In UK, they were distributed by SystemA, look on Wiki for some info

They were reviewed when first released in the 2600 Connection fanzine, you can order back-issues from 2600 Connection website.

The top machine by all appearances looks to be a 68-pin Famiclone. If you've seen 1, you've seen 999,999.

I don't know anything about the second device. Looks interesting though.

TV Boy was made by a British company called Systema. There are a few different versions of it. Here's the model II (http://www.obsolete-tears.com/photos/akor_super_tv_boy.jpg), and I believe this last one (http://2600connection.atari.org/tvboy3.html) was released around 2000 or 2001. The first two iterations are interesting because they used RF output instead of composite video. PAL versions are more common than NTSC. When I first got serious about collecting 10 years ago I really wanted an NTSC one but couldn't justify $200 for a CIB copy.

EDIT - Looks like tom covered all the TV Boy bases while I was proofreading.

That R-zone-looking thing is quite odd with it's built-in projector. I have two of the three R-Zone iterations, but I don't remember if the third did this. Anyone? If it's not a pirated R-Zone, I guess it's its own undocumented system!

And who the fuck would dupe an R-Zone?

Man that Lysspil one looks cool. You say it's an R-zone clone? Thanx. Hmmm....
RASK disapears to Ebay......

Thanks for the replies, guys! It's great to see that I'm not the only one who's puzzled by the Lysspil, as I haven't been able to dig up the slightest piece of information on it. I hadn't seen it before I stumbled across it at a swap meet, and the seller knew just as little about it as I did so she threw in the extra games as a favor :-D
But hey, the "TV KONSOL" thing, being a Famiclone and all, would I be able to feed it Famicom games off the bat or would I have to do something to it first? Sorry for coming on as an idiot but I don't know much about these systems ^^;

Haha, oh my God, memories. Precious, terrible memories! I used to have something very much like this (it was probably the same thing, just whatever they called it here in Australia).

The projector was extremely weak, so it was difficult to see what you were actually trying to play. I recall a helicopter game where you just picked people up on the one screen over and over again while avoiding bullets that came out of nowhere.

Hey, just have to say it's cool to see another Scandi on the forums! :)

The Lysspil is NOT an R-Zone clone... It was sold here, I believe, as the Playtime LCD Projection System. I know there was a French version too, but don't seem to have the name in my files where I thought it was. :-(

Yeah, the Lysspil device has come out here too, I've seen it on some web site. It's just a bunch of generic LCD games with essentially a flashlight to project it's image on a wall. It's a cool idea, but you don't exactly get a whole lot of gameplay out of LCD games.

I've always wanted a TV Boy. There was an odd store in a local mall that had a couple on a clearance table, but I didn't know what it was. Weeks later, I came across info about it online and went back to pick one up, but alas they were gone. :(

It's great to hear that other people have come across the Lysspil device. Does anyone have any idea what was in the box besides the device itself and a game? Styrofoam, manuals, etc.? I'd love to see a complete one some time. Surely a fellow DP'er must have one in his/her possession and is able to take a few photos of it :)
