NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Afficionados. It's FREE, and YOU are invited to attend.

Previously at NAVA...

- Lots of NAVA veterans in attendance! John Hardie, Don Evanoff, Chris Chandler, Greg Wilcox, Jessen Jurado... if you don't know these names then you're not one of the veterans yet. Or you're really unfriendly.
- A new Smash Bros Brawl tournament champion was crowned.
- A custom toilet seat bearing the Digital Press logo on the lid and psychedelic Tempest-style artwork on the sit-down portion was donated to the store. You have to see the photos to really appreciate this.
- Many games and systems traded hands between attendees.
- Pictures and video tell it best:

RE-GIFTING SEASON:
------------------
December 27th 'tis the season of RE-GIFTING and we're going to give everyone a chance to re-wrap an old gift and get a new one in exchange. Simply bring any new/unused gift-wrapped item worth $10 or more giftwrapped. We'll log you in when you arrive and put it under our tree. Everyone who contributes gets someone else's gift in exchange. At 5PM we'll unwrap the gifts.

MEGA MAN 9 MEDIA KIT TOURNAMENT:
--------------------------------
This is best prize we've ever given away, donated by a NAVA regular. It's brand new, and if you don't know what this is or why we think it's cool, check this link:

http://tinyurl.com/6dm48q

At 6PM (or soon after the gift-opening is done) we'll kick off a mystery tournament to find a winner for this very cool prize. Entry is limited and will open first to those who participate in the "re-gifting" ceremony, so show a little holiday spirit!

GAMING:
-------
To mix things up a little bit, we'll have a Japanese PS2 running on one of the monitors with some cool and quirky "only in Japan" imports. For the retro crowd, our NES will be loaded with the flash cart which means you can play pretty much any NES or Famicom game (and if I can get it figured out, Famicom Disk System games as well). This is subject to change.

Get your trade boxes in order. Get your game face on. It's THAT time again!

When: Saturday, December 27th, noon to midnight.
Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What happens: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes! Attendance is FREE. Half price for kids!
What can I bring?: Snacks, soda and beer are always appreciated. Cakes have been very popular as well.

You know, New York is right next to New Jersey.

Look at a map. The two states fit together like puzzle pieces. It's not a coincidence.

I'll be there. I figured out what we could do in Joe's basement...

We could make dickerdoodles.

New York has a bad habit of forgetting we exist. Case in point: The New York Giants, New York Jets, The Statue of Liberty...they are ours, dammit! New York likes to just lay claim to stuff on our turf.

Gerard and I should be able to attend. I'll bring some stuff to trade, because I got a lot of different games during the 5 dollar sale at Circuit City a few years back that I don't play.

Japanese PS2? Could I PLEASE bring some Twinkle Star Sprites? I'll even throw in a Press Start T-Shirt and DVD as a prize!

Twinkle Star Sprites? Hell yes! I've been playing it on the MAME cabinet the past couple of NAVA's, and I love that game. One of my favorites.

Question about the regifting, does it have to be game related or could it be anything?

Would anybody like me to bring my copy of Vib Ribbon?

Yeah, I'm wondering that too, mostly because I wouldn't want to disappoint someone without a game when everyone else would have one. Hopefully I can find something good enough to give.

It doesn't HAVE to be gaming related, but that kinda makes sense given the crowd. Still, I could always use a new pair of socks, and I'm sure every other NAVA member could as well.

Japanese PS2?

Would anybody like me to bring my copy of Vib Ribbon?

I've got that covered - in fact, I thought it might be fun to play Vib Ribbon using some traditional Christmas music CD's. Two issues: 1) it's been a LONG time since I played the game swapping discs so we're going to need someone who knows those menus pretty well and 2) I don't have any traditional music CD's. Still, the idea is out there!

I can read the kana so I might be of some help with that. But the easier solution...a GameFAQs printout. ;)

After having to miss last month's NAVA, I'm especially looking forward to this one. The re-gifting sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun. I plan on trying to gift something someone will actually want, not just unopened junk :)

I'd have sworn I already posted in this thread early last week, but I probably Previewed, and then forgot to post. (D'oh!)

OK, the short and sweet version:
* I hope to make NAVA this month.
* I have an NES Miracle Keyboard I'd like to sell, if anyone is interested. It's big, so I'm not dragging it along if nobody expresses interest prior to Saturday.
* The keyboard works fine, but I don't have a cable for it. If you are interested, let me know with as much time as possible, so I can get the parts, make a replacement cable, and test it.

* VIB RIBBON - I like that game a lot. Haven't played it in a while, so this should be a lot of fun.
* Frankie - I'd love a copy of that translation chart you mentioned.

Hope to see you all next weekend.

LOL

I checked out the menu translation FAQ I had on my computer (which I had downloaded many years ago) and it's the same one from GameFaqs that can be found hosted here!

http://www.digitpress.com/faq/vibribbon.txt

I also have the button chart paperwork that game with the game. I'll bring it all.

If my friend doesn't buy my Rock Band 2 set, I'll be selling it at NAVA. $125 for Wireless Drums, Wireless Guitar, a Mic, the game itself, and a Guitar Hero 2 Guitar.

Frankie_Says_Relax

And I'll have my Rock Band 1 drum kit for PS2/PS3 up for grabs again for the bargain price of $20.

Anyone interested in buying a modded Wii? It's fitted with a Wiikey chip and on/off switch. It has seen very little use, and comes with everything it originally came with. I haven't played it in several months - that's why I'm considering selling it. If someone is interested, I'll bring it along. I'm not looking to sell it for absurd ebay or craigslist prices, I'm very reasonable.

Was going through my closet and I made up a box of stuff to bring to trade and sell. A lot of random stuff, I'm going to bring my US version of Taiko no Tasujin (Taiko Drum Master) and see if anybody wants it. I only played it a few times, so the drum is like brand new.

Anybody here into collecting old Nintendo Powers and other magazines? I got a fee boxes in my basement with a bunch of them that I've keep over the years and was thinking of getting rid out, but if somebody out there collects them, I could bring em with me.

I will also bring the usual Special Dark Pretzels and Twinkle Star Sprites La Petite Princess for the Japanese PS2. I'm going to be REALLY rusty, pretty much because somebody threw out my slide card and now I can't play Japanese games on my PS2 anymore! :(

Not sure if I'm going to be able to make it this month. This Saturday, I'm going to Video Games Live (http://www.videogameslive.com/index.php?s=home), and then an end of semester party, which is actually just down the road from DP by about a mile or two.

I'll most likely just be there early on in the day.

You'll enjoy VGL, I went to the one earlier this year and it was very nice. Also, you may see people from the present industry there as well. The president of Capcom Japan was in there that night as well taking photos with people.

So bear with me if this sounds a little familiar.

Coming, and bringing some interesting trade/sale stuff (Frogger arcade marquee, SNES Bronkie The Bronchiasaurus, sealed 2600 Beat 'Em & Eat 'Em, Genesis Pirates! Gold and Joshua, sealed Jaguar Tempest 2000, and Atari 2600 Pooyan and Strategy X in pretty decent shape). Wouldn't mind digging up a loose NES Dragon Warrior IV (not looking for complete; I'm cheep!), or N64 Sin & Punishment or Neon Genesis Evangelion if you got 'em, but cash works too. =)

I'll see if I can dig up something re-gifty and non-suck around here, as well.

It is going to be a DVD banaza with me this month, $5 a movie with plenty of interesting ones to choose from, also going to sell Vol 1 and 2 of the AVGN DVDs for a cool $40 for those who havn't picked it up yet.

To All,

Many thanks for providing the entertainment and I'm glad to meet most of you one way or another.

Just a few things to reflect on:

My apologies for my friend (Kyo) to move have the idea to borrow one chair and try to check to see if we could have an adapter for my laptop. The main purpose was to make sure we were able to have laptop usage so if people would like to trade not only games for emulations but games in general, I would be happy to burn for all the fans out there, regardless of the game genre.

Obviously I'm a fan of fighting games and have lots of it set up for MAME/NeoRageX/etc., and that's why I decided to also bring my 2 Hori sticks in case people would like to use them for any fighting games used at the event.

I was wondering if the next event, should there be any casual games, could we come by again and use my Hori sticks with permission from the staff there? The last time I checked I had to ask one of the supervisors, but he was busy...

Otherwise, I had a blast and I look forward seeing you guys at another Saturday should any of you plan to have some casuals and chill.

Take care and keep in touch

A+ NAVA once again. I picked my self a Kane & Lynch shirt from the DP store for ONLY $5.00.
I got to play Left 4 Dead for the PC, this game is AMAZING! Even though I got killed lots of times I was worth playing. This game makes me wanna go upgrade my laptop, for better graphics, sounds, etc. Then again, I hope this game comes out on PS3 so I could play it.
I saw that someone brought in a Gears of War 2 lancer, I think me personally that this is a waste of $125.00. Then again, I never played Gears Of War 2 so I don't know if this worth it. Dastardly Dylan told me if it was $30.00 would I buy it, I still say no. Then he said if it was $400.00 and it came with Octocamo (MGS4 Snake's suit) I said I would take the Octocamo and sell the gun to my friend who is obsessed with Gears of War. LOL

Not a lot of people had stuff for sale it was surprising.

Like I said before A+ NAVA like always.

I had a great time at NAVA like always. It was great seeing the Press Start guys back once again since it has been a while, and of course seeing all the regular members once again. Left 4 Dead was great fun on the PC in the back, when I first arrived that's all I played with my friends for a good hour or two. Great game. I think the highlight of the night was when this guy (I forgot your name, sorry!) brought his Gears of War lancer in and showed it off to everyone. Me, being a big Gears of War fan, went crazy over it and I now want one. Badly.

See everyone next month!.... Er... I mean next NEXT month!

We're not doing a January NAVA (conflicts with another event) so watch this space for the February announcement!
