A guy wants to trade for my Chavez II? I know it's rare as f. 8. Theres only 3 8's and 2 9's. So it's realy rare! But on Ebay I've seen them for 20$. The game kinda sucks. But still. Donkey kong weekend and the Star Fox weekend are outragouse. Whats up? How much is it realy worth. Should I even trade it? HELP!!!! He's offering like 10 5's for NES.

$20 is about right for a loose cart. They only tend to go for signicant cash if they're complete.

Thats strange that something that rare would be so cheap. The game does suck but still doesn's seem right. Guess I''l trade it. Way less rare shitty games on shitty systems are worth more? Does not compute. I meen 10000's of people collect Snes why wouldn't there be a demand for such a rarity. I realy don't care. I'm baffled. Maybe I should keep it and people will realize how rare it is in the near future? I don't know.

Because its not that rare, not even close to the starfox of donkey kong competition carts. Chavez II is readily available from online sellers like amazon and ebay. The rarity ratings are not set in stone. Buster douglas boxing for the sms has a rarity of 7 but is tougher to find than Chavez II. Having said that, a cart only copy of Buster Douglas only sold for $9.99 recently on ebay.
10 rarity 5 nes games, remember any of the titles? I cant say without knowing which rarity 5 games, but that seems like a deal in your favor.

I would say that Chavez II is about an R6. Remember, the rarity guides were made years ago.

Thanx for all the info! I did not know the rarity is dated. Good to know. Sorry about putting it in the wrong place I was in a hury.
Does anyone know of a better more up to date rarity list?

One of the reasons it's not worth that much cart only is because anyone who doesn't keep track of SNES rarities will see it as just another sports game, and it's been spotted too often to have the "Stadium Events" thing going for it.

I have a few factory sealed chavez II ... i found those in a store in my city : Monterrey, Mexico.
I have followed many rare SNES releases but i am not sure if SUPER COPA or CHAVEZ II were indeed exclusive for Mexico or if they had a limited release in the U.S. on Chicago, Texas or Michigan where Mexican communities are very large.

I saw a copy of Chavez II in California about ten years ago.

I thought so, Kitsune; many people argue that this game was released in Mexico only.
Thank you so much for this information :D

The Games 4 Less Chain in Orange County, California had about 20 copies for the SNES between their four stores a few years back. I picked one up for $20 at that time. They have closed half their stores in the past couple of years and I haven't really paid attention to whether or not they still have copies of it in their SNES case.

I've been there - there's a HUGE Mexican population there. It almost felt like home. But this was two or three years ago...

Strongly disagree with this statement. I've NEVER had a Chavez II traded in to the store. I've seen Buster for SMS at least three times.
That said, there's a "swagger" to Buster. Not the same for Chavez II. I seriously doubt I could sell a Chavez II in the store for more than $25.

A loose Chavez II...I'm having significant difficulty believing it can bring more than about $15 (much less $20 or $25). It's rare, yes, but it's not *that* rare (I agree with Evan_G's R6 rating), and certainly isn't in much demand.
Where did I find one once in the wild? Cleveland, TN, at Rhino Video Games (now GameStop), $7.99. Of course, I bought it, and ended up selling it for $12 or so. My current copy came from a guy at NintendoAge...I paid $10 for it.
Edit: It is worth noting, though...the 10 R5's for NES are almost certainly worth more than the $12-$15 that Chavez II is worth (unless they're in crap condition or something).

Chavez II
I have one with part of it's box...someone cut it up to put in a plastic box...I might be bringing it up for trade soon. This is one of those games I hold onto hoping the value would go up..I got it out of Blockbuster.
..I got a bunch of SMS and SNES boxed games to trade in..If you get a chance shoot me a PM or email on the basic trade in value for boxed sms/snes games....and loose too
I'm also thinking af bringing up complete working NES systems ..that consist of deck, hookups, controllers zapper and one game .I need a quote on them too..

I would think that Chavez II would be worth more just because some people would need it for their SNES complete collection (those going for one anyway). Whether its an R6,7, or 8, it must be rare enough to make it harder to obtain for those looking for a full set.

It's not hard to find CHAVEZ II in Mexico, but to find a complete or sealed copy sure is tough. I was lucky to find and keep a few sealed copies and i want to list them on ebay, the only thing that stops me is that no one is interested in them ...
I do not love the game, but given the sealed condition; it's not easy to let it go for less than 30 usd, you know :grrr:
The last copies of CHAVEZ II that i listed on ebay sold for :
CHAVEZ - cart only : 0.99 usd
CHAVEZ II - cart only : 3.30 usd
CHAVEZ - Factory Sealed : 69.00 usd
CHAVEZ II - Cart + Box : 22.50 usd
I have never tried to sell a sealed copy but those games have never gain too much attention, unlike SUPER COPA which i have sold 2 carts this year :
SUPER COPA July 21 : 338.33 usd
SUPER COPA September 8 : 215.18 usd
An estimate value for a sealed chavez II ?

Chavez had limited release in the US where distributors would take them. Super Copa didn't IIRC.

Yeah, but it the only distributors that would take them were ones that supplied people who actually knew/cared about Julio Chavez, which was in predominately Mexican communities.

If that was the case, many more copies should've reaches U.S. retail stores; Chavez was very well know all over the world ... millions of dollars were spent on PPV for his fights.
Maybe the production was very low

Didn't ASC have really low print runs for all their games?

Chavez II had to have been released to some extent in the US although the game and box are entirely in Spanish. I bought mine about a year ago from a small video Rental store called Video To Go in York, SC. It doesn't have a manual but it is in a box that's in fairly good condition. They still have several SNES and N64 games for sale CIB that appear to have been rental copies. I've purchased several R5's for the N64 for $8-$15 at this store. Of course Chavez II may have never been released at a Wal-Mart, but it must have been available to Rental stores throughout the country.

Sure, they did; but i do not know the exact numbers ... i don't think that 2,000 copies were the only ones produced, but i really do not know a real number of the production.
DomesticInst: Very nice find of that chavez, the box looks minty :D
