HI, has anyone else seen that annoying greatest gift...ever commercial where they show some kid from the 80s ranting about how the Atari 2600 game system was the greatest gift...and then on the word ever, they flash forward to 2008 with the kid as an adult with his wife all happy that he got a Lexus for Christmas. I really hate these commercials, as I rather have a game system and the 80s back than the reality of mortgages, bitch wife getting some from the neighbor, unappreciative kids and car payments which I cannot afford as I'm laid off because of the bad 2008 economy. LOL, nah I'm only teasing here, trolling, but seriously, they show Centipede, but I don't remember Centipede being that good for the Atari 2600. Wasn't that a different system's version of the game, and if so, which? Thanks!

Not sure, but don't you need some kind of liscense to show the atari 2800 and centipede? or is it too old to give a crap about. and yea I've seen that commercial.

Phil Harrison has other stuff to worry about, like keeping Atari alive for another few years.
Then again, we are talking about the company who threatened iPhone developers over all of the Pong/Breakout clones on the App Store.

Sure enough, it's found its way to YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GimUhbsE2Gs).
Toyota should ditch whatever ad agency thought the "Saved by Zero" ads were a good idea, and stick with whoever came up with this.

First off, I would consider the gift of a car to be a truly outstanding gift. Mainly because it's never, ever going to happen to me. Secondly, I can't see how getting a generic looking car could somehow knock out the Atari 2600 from it's prime gift spot. That's just me. I of course have never been impressed by a Lexus, especially the bland looking one they had in the commercial. To me it looks like a standard issue mid-size car.

Honestly, though... Who gets/gives cars for Christmas?

Heh, they didn't even bother to obscure the Atari logo.
They must think the brand doesn't exist anymore....

I don't think so. They (Atari) are probably happy for the recognition.

Thos TV ads are retarded.
The Atari (and Big Wheel) are awesome. And I guess a pony rawks for the gals out there.
The ad isn't about being receiving a Lexus as a gift, though. It's about leasing a Lexus.

Agreed not to mention a lexus isn't cheap either :p Though the auto industry is in trouble all ready needing that bailout by the goverment. I guess there getting desperate with ads like that.Though if i got a lexus as a gift it sure wouldn't replace my childhood memory of having,a atari 2600 now maybe a PS3 would

Lexus isn't American, thus won't be getting any bailout money. The auto bailout was for Detroit.

They're going for the remembrance of childhood euphoria at an awesome Christmas gift, and suggesting that the purchase/lease/whatever of a Lexus is going to put you on that same level of happiness again. The object from childhood could have been anything, really, but the choice of a 2600, and especially the part about racking up 150,000 on Centipede, is a savvy one as it's suggesting that the viewer is of higher-than-average intelligence and tenacity.
I like the ad myself, if for no other reason than Lexus shows the 2600 more dignity than Subway did (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPZsGwLGHCc).

By the way, Lexus is retarded, too. They are just Toyotas with "luxury" features.
Get a Toyota with leather interior. Bam! You have a Lexus.

Anyone see the Acura commercial going for the same "gift" vibe?
