I had the Club Nintendo announcement page bookmarked, and when I went to check it this evening, I found this!
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b235/joshnickerson/clubninty.jpg
I immediately checked out the rewards section... sure enough, we're getting the Game and Watch DS collection, for 800 coins. There are also some cool Mario and Animal Crossing DS cases, which hold 9 cards and 7 stylui for 600 coins, as well as some playing cards and Wii Remote holders. Wii games are worth 50 coins, DS games 30 and Wii Channels and VC/WiiWare will be worth 10 or 20. You can also compete in surveys after the game release for 10 bonus coins. You gain gold status after you earn 300 coins and platinum after 600.

I immediately began to transfer over my MyNintendo account, and in my haste, pressed the "Print Screen" button on my keyboard... which is fortunate for what is to come later.

I entered all my info, and it asked for some additional info and then said my account transfer was complete... but then I couldn't login. I tried to transfer again, and it acted the same, as if I hadn't transfered at all. After the second time, I gave up, figuring maybe I had to wait for a confirmation email, and then... browsing to another page I got the 404. The site had reverted back to it's former "announcement" status.

Anyway... I hope some of this info is useful to you! I just hope I didn't bork my account trying to transfer over too early...

I've been registering games since the early GBA days. Hope they count for something.

Funny thought, I bet they'll be selling exclusive Pokemon via the club.

Are you going to be able to earn coins for third party games now too? Or still only Nintendo games?

Nintendo-Published Titles
Only games published by Nintendo come packaged with the PIN used to register the game. Games not published by Nintendo (licensee titles) will not include a PIN card and cannot be registered.

So...am I going to earn coins for my 60+ games I have registered already..?

The Wikipedia article mentions that select third-party games would yield points. This is coming from Wikipedia, however, so no telling how reliable the information is.

Same here. I had tons of games/systems/vc games registered with "My Nintendo" for years. My account transferred over, but not the games.

Now when I try to log in it says I have the wrong password (when I clearly don't). The site is obviously screwed up right now.

Following what I'm reading on other forums, before your coins are granted, you have to take a survey on whatever it is that you have registered. Additionally, I'm finding people saying that games that are not on the list that have been registered are still having surveys issued for them, meaning you'll still get points for non-listed games.

I site is getting the crap hammered out of it right now. I get the feeling Nintendo figured only a few hundred people would care. It's the N64 release all over again.

Well I was able to transfer my account, but almost every time I click on a link it asks me to log in again so I think the site is pretty screwed right now.

Does anyone know how you get coins for games you've already registered? I didn't see a link for existing games, but then again I really couldn't navigate the site much.

The same thing happened to me, it says I don't have my user name or password correct when I know I got it right.

I don't have very many games registered on there, only two and at the time those were to get the free items they gave away :P.

I didn't even use the old system that often. This is shown by me forgetting my user name, thankfully I had an e-mail from Nintendo still in my e-mail that said what my username was. I kind of forgot I had an account there until this post.

This thing is fucked.
I've been a memeber since the start of the internet.
I forgot my password, so I reset it. I go back to the page and enter it in. It says this:

Welcome to Club Nintendo. Transferring your My Nintendo account to Club Nintendo is easy, but we may need some additional information to complete the process. Please click "Join Club Nintendo Now" to continue. NOTE: Make sure to provide the email address associated to your My Nintendo account to successfully transfer your account.

When I fill out all the info, it kindly lets me know that I can't use that stuff, because someone else is already using that username, first name, and last name.
Well no shit.

Well appears to have sorted for me, I can log in fine having transferred (but yeah it was crapping up earlier)... but it wants me to re-enter all the product codes for the valid games to earn the coins. Fair enough... but how do I register World of Goo with no product code? :frustrated:

PapaStu
12-16-2008, 08:53 AM
I was able to transfer my account no problem, but as I started to enter games I'd get kicked out all the time. It is quite annoying. I've got a solid 10+ games that i'd previously entered on the old Nintendo site that I can't re-enter my codes for. That code has already been used. I've currently been unable to re-register about 7 of my titles.... Even though they show up on my list of games (AND ask for a registration code), but when I try to use their codes.... no dice, they've already been entered

On top of that, there seems to be a big number of games that when entered, don't bring up the survey... and because the survey doesn't come up, you get no coins.

Games that did not work for code registration for me (or other in #vbender last night)

Wii
ExciteTruck
Battalion Wars 2

DS
Chibi Robo Park Patrol
Custom Robo Arena
Yoshi's Touch And Go
Super Princess Peach
Warioware Touched
True Swing Golf
Pokemon Trozei
Pokemon Dash
Picross
Mario Vs DK 2

I've got another 15+ games un-registered that i'm going to hold onto until after I get my Game & Watch DS, though since a bunch are older titles, i'm guessing that i'm going to be up the creek on them counting towards the survey.

All said and told it took me +/- 3 hours to register enough titles thanks to the constant kick outs (DS = 30 coins, Wii=50 {80 for Wii-Fit} to get to 800 and get my G&W DS game.

I'm not sure. I've emailed Nintendo support to see what they say. I've got a feeling that there are ALOT of unhappy people in this regard.

So I registered enough points, cashed in on my G & W DS game.... I don't have a family account, but I got this email from them... how helpful nintendo.

I believe it stated in the FAQ that if you were having issues getting WiiWare/VC or Channels registered, you could call a 1-800 number and they would do it manually.

The previously registered games appear in the My Account Settings link (yeah, go figure).

My games do appear, but I only received 30 coins (survey on Mario 64 DS). Looks like Phantom Hourglass is the only non-registered game I can currently enter. (C'mon Nintendo! What about my copy of Yoshi's Island DS???)

Also, I can't use the promise-to-buy feature (which gives out an extra 10 coins).

In any case, what mostly interests me is the Super Mario game-and-stylus case (although the Animal Crossing one is nice too).

The G&W Collection would interest me if it had more than 3 games on it (heck, reissuing one of the GBC G&W Gallery with the inclusion of the dual screens for games like DK Jr would have been cool). As it is, it's for completists only.

Not every game has a survey. Check the list on the previous page...I don't thgink any of those have a survey (and therefore no coins).

I haven't tried it yet...just to get it straight you need to bring over the old games, then re-enter the PIN numbers to get the surveys?

Lady Jaye

No. Once you transfer your account, it tells you which games are associated to a survey, listed in a to-do list. No need to re-enter PIN numbers (fortunately).

Honestly, one DS pak can hold one of every G&W game that has been released via the Gallery series plus it's remake. I know it's a pipe dream, but it would be nice if Nintendo suddenly realized this and gave us a complete package.

Its more of the site just makes you log in 50 times to attempt to do anything is all. I was more stable using Opera than Safari last night, but then I started to have trouble with surveys (and it thinking that I hadn't done a bunch).

It is supposed to be localized. It showed up on the ESRB site not all that long ago which is what was leading people to think that this was going to be an offer for the Club Nintendo site.

I'd love to figure out how to get to add the coins for the locked games i've got. They want me to re-add the codes on that to-do page, but when I do, I get the cold cold shaft and can't enter them because that cose has been used. Is there a way to 'move' them as LJ is implying?

@Joedick
I know that list on the other page isn't correct. It doesn't have elektroplankton on there and I was able to enter that game and have it work. I think I was able to enter a few others as well.

You more or less can play the Zelda G&W. It was released as a final unlockable in G&W Gallery 4. It's very much fun, like all G&W games, but different in other aspects. The game has a definite end, a map, a dungeon and a few monsters that would later be popularized in newer Zelda games.

By the time Nintendo finally gets around to fixing the "incorrect password" issue, they'll be all out of the Game and Watch DS games. Just watch.

Oh, and where is our Wii "SNES" controller or Super Mario Galaxy 2-disc soundtrack? So far the bonuses for the US are shit.

I couldn't even see the G&W DS game in the UK store. It's incredibly crap.

And I can't even register for Club Nintendo as this Product Code I require isn't in my Wii box? Anyone in the UK got one for a PAL Wii I could have please?

Does registering my details allow me to save my Visa card so I don't have to type numbers out every time I purchase points?

I'm getting the same situation...it says my account was not found yet it was just fine!

Guess I need to call Nintendo tomorrow...

Yeah, it's real broken. I better be able to get the G&W game... A hanafuda deck would be nice to. A Nintendo hanafuda deck! How cool is that? If only you could get to it! LOL

I hope I can order before the wife sees that Animal Crossing playing card deck and game case/stylus. We'll have no coins left for G&W...

I played with it a bit, but I don't have much in the way of motivation screw around. Cards? Really? When they start giving out the Super Mario Galaxy OST, I'll pick one up on eBay.

Figuring this morning would be light traffic (cos most of the Yanks are in bed!) I've been through all the surveys to earn my coins and it was all fairly smooth sailing. Apart from having to occasionally relog back in. Once the helpdesk give me my 10 coins for World of Goo, I'll have 600 exactly... for platinum status. I wonder what the free gifts on offer come June will be like compared to the ones available in Japan?

Cards? Really?

Wiki sez: Nintendo Company Ltd. (任天堂株式会社, Nintendō Kabushiki gaisha) is a global company located in Kyoto, Japan founded on September 23, 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi to produce handmade hanafuda cards.

It's what they did before these fancy "video" games.

Anyway yeah this site is broke as hell, I mean I'm used to Nintendo's site not working very well but this just isn't working at all for me yet. As usual those of us who have been using a service for a long time get screwed over when they change stuff.

Yoshi's Island DS is one of the games that earn coins with the survey, etc.

Here's a fucking pisser: Nintendo rewards 50 coins to those who register Twilight Princess Wii... and NONE to those who register the GameCube version.

Also, why the FUCK can't i register my NES games? That's bullshit. I bought them new, I should be able to register them. More Nintendo screwing us.

:above me:

An even bigger travesty here. Think of all those people who imported hanafuda decks back at the end of the 19th century! They don't get coins for their purchases either!!! I'd be pissed if I were them... and dead. Remember kiddies, don't be pissin' off the deceased. It's a registered dick move.

I blame Sharron Osborne... Sarah Palin? What-ever-her-name-is that was the Nintendo E3 awkward-fest last summer. She is to blame! Way to screw the hardcore of hanafuda Nintendo. Know your roots? Indeed.
