I personally haven't, but I know someone who is doing that exact thing right now with Suikoden III. Very little interaction with other people. Even missed out on work once because of it.
Just being a curious party, seeing if any games have had the same effect on you all. I don't see how a game can be that damn good, but since I'm not an RPG nut, I may be missing something here.

I haven't actually gotten to the point of missing things because of a game... but there have been times when i've been out with my friends, wishing i was at home playing... (especially when i was in the middle of metroid prime)
2 weeks ago i called in to work because i was legitimately ill, and i played Soul Calibur for DC all day... but i don't think that quite counts.

I've missed a Kung Fu class or two to stay home and play Wind Waker. And I'm paying for these freakin' classes.

In the Dreamcast days of Phantasy Star Online, I basically disappeared from sight for 5 months. Sure, I went to work and spent my time on the 'net, but my "social time" - the time when I was home and free to do what I wanted to do - was spent exclusively on PSO. I've gone into hiding in the past and even *since* but never for that amount of time.

Everquest. Friends would call me up to go hang out, and I'd shamelessly tell them exactly why I didn't want to. Things like this are the reason I threw my fucking disc away.

same here for PSO. I'd hardly call it a departure from socialization, though: I played with fellow co-workers and friends. Right now, I'm stuck on Warsong for the Mega Drive, which no so coincidentally is the next topic for Middle School Gaming.

In the past I have skipped many a social function for Everquest. Nothing makes your friends go, "You got to be kidding me" faster then when you tell them your not going bar hopping because you have a Plane of Hate guild raid.

I spend a lot of time play PSO but I usually talk to one of the people I play with on the phone because he lives a couple miles away. Thats social. Plus I spend time with my fiance.
Do animals count as social contact?

Yup...I admit it...I'm addicted to military Madness (Nectoris) on PS1
I lock myself away from the world and play for hours.

There I fixed it. Is that better? :P
And to answer your question no.

Blah!!! Ok ok...so I'm the mysterious friend who has now officially thrown her life away for a game....but this is not just a game....it ish my god. IT ISH THE GREATEST THING EVAR!!! I mean before this I would ramble for hours about Lunar Silver Star Story Complete....I even had the anime cut scenes memorized.....but now I have discovered something better. Yes my favorite gaming series is now Suikoden and not Lunar. I mean the second Suikoden was one of my top five....but damn three is good. I actually got the game back in October, but I let it sit, due to the fact it was a gift from the "tool".....hell I even imported the LE version of it from Japan....I finally decided to get outta my gaming ADD and play a game....hence I started over and changed the name of the Fire Champion...and here I am. Officially as of last night I have beaten through Hugo's, Chris's and Geddoe's three chapters and Thomas's two addition chapters....I choose to give Hugo the true fire rune and have him take over as the Flame Champion, since Geddoe already has the true thunder rune and Chris will eventually get her father's true water rune....now I'm working on mopping up my mess and getting all104 characters before chapter five, so that Luc, Yuber, Sarah and Albert will be the remaining 4 stars.....
So now that I have interacted with humanity....I go in search of Futch. Please kiss my ass....I know I'm a dork....now collect ten potch from the j-random dude standing on the street corner.

Once or twice for EQ. I clearly remember staying in to finish a weekend-long Plane of Air raid (Isle 7, eat my shit). Probably a few other times when i was in incredibly good grind groups or killing something else big. I think I stayed in once to do the Statue of Rallos Zek (Back when Vindi was hardcore).

No, not really. My wife, though, is hooked on Animal Crossing and that does sometime affect our social life a tad. At times when we are out and things got a bit boring, she'll look at a clock and say "We should get home soon. Tom Nook's closes in about an hour."

I used to be so hooked on Civilization II and Master of Orion that I would just play for hours. I didn't hang out with friends unless they wanted to play a two player game (ahhhh the days of turn based!!). Too many DOS games so little time.

I never had many people I consider "friends" back in the day and I still don't in the present, there are many people I know that are considered to be "acquaintances" , besides the three people I consider friends are also gamers so there is never a problem anway :) and as far as social interaction, I am antisocial anyway and I'd rather spend all my time at home playing countless hours of Zelda than be outside hanging with crowds, I don't like crowds, they are dangerous IMO and if it came down to being inside a bar packed with chicks and guys who smell like beer and are smoking 10 packs of cigarettes at the same time or in a club where everyone smells like a mix of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, cheap perfume and cologne then believe me when I tell you that home with the consoles is the best place to be and with that said, game on :fist:

Hehehehe............
The first time i ever played Medievil on ps1.
I was meant to have a quick go at it but i loved it so much i played it
from start to finish (took me from 10pm till 9am) and then realized
i had missed the start of school and just went to bed instead.
Oh how i wish for the days of old when all you missed was school and not work.
I didn't realize how long ago Medievil came out. (6 years??)

Man, I was addicted to Suikoden III, but I sacraficed sleep (which isn't a big deal to me). I just have to get out with my friends. That's why I'm glad what I'm REALLY addicted to is Street Fighter and DDR. Lots of social interaction there.
When your friend beats Suikoden III tell me what his final time was. Mine was 72 hours 22 minutes.

I brushed off a couple dates because I was playing a game. Doesn't matter... the girl I blew off became my wife, so huzzah for addictions.

I'm his friend.....well the person he was talking about....I am also not a he. I hate that!!!
*ahem* At the moment, I have 53 hours on the game. I am in chapter five right after Franz, Ruby and Iku join the stars.....as well as Duke's team and it switches to the trinity site thingie. Now I just have to prepare for some strategy battles and keep my stars alive. I must play as Luc....
Also, just so every knows, my favorite party consists of Hugo, Futch (getting a nice ass status boost thanks to Suikoden 2 save), Edge, Rody (with the flowing rune and pale gate.....kick ass), Nash, and finally my baby Jacques.

I think I have combined social interactin with game playing. I remember back in the commodore 64 and Amiga days all I did was invitre friends over and play games. We would play games for hours and thrn go into the backyard and come back and play video games such as Garrison (Amiga) and Kickstart (c64) These days I live by myself but don';t actually miss uni classes but I still hangout for getting home and playing a Vectrex game or a PS2 game.
Iv'e gone a bit retro and Vectrex is my platform of choice for retro gaming. It's just so intact and funky playing the Vec and I highly recommend getting one. One of the best things I think is having a girlfriend who likes playing video games. I used to have one and she played Discworld all the time as she likes Terry Pratchet. Theres something appealing about an attractive girl who likes playing videogames.

Nubian.

I found a game so addicting that it almost cost me my job :o I remember back in the day playing Dune Battle for Arrakis(Genesis) I started playing one night and couldn't stop! I played right through from 5pm to 8am the next day. I had to work at 9am. I beat the game and decided to turn of my phone and go to sleep. I got in big trouble with my boss but hey it was worth it :D

What is this "social interaction" that you speak of?
