All the surveys has expiration dates in 2011 or 2012 so I'm quite safe for now heh...
Gameguy
01-28-2009, 08:03 PM
The surveys themselves have expiration dates, but I don't think the coins do...
Coins have an expiration date, it's listed on the FAQ page.
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/club/en/faq.jsp
Why are my Coins listed with an expiration date?
Unredeemed Coins will expire two (2) full Club Nintendo years (July 1 - June 30), plus whatever is left in the current Club Nintendo year, after they are earned. Example: Coins earned in March 2009 would not expire until June 30, 2011.

Yeah that's what I was trying to recall. So unless something amazing that I don't own appears in the store, I'll hold onto these surveys until July...

Yes, there is a way.
Great. Thanks :)
I won't be able to get points for them for awhile. I'm waiting until the rollover before registering my DSi with Club Nintendo. I've already got platinum status for this year, so I'll wait to redeem this sucker.

I got this in an email from club nintendo today:
http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s182/c0ldb33r/platinum.jpg
Anyone else get this? Any ideas as to what the prize will be?
Misto

No idea what the prize will be, but I found that email in my inbox this morning.
I'm interested to see what they will be giving away, but I'm not expecting much.

I suspect that it will be some cheap token. Maybe a little mario figure or something. Hoping for something decent, though.

I'm hoping for that.

I havn't gotten that email yet, but I did get one about 3 weeks ago reminding me to make sure to put in my points before the end of the cycle... I can't wait to cash in on all the stuff i've been stocking up since this thing launched last year and I hit Platinum status on day 2.

07-01-2009, 06:23 PM
Got the email myself earlier. I already have quite a few of the Japanese platinum gifts, so I hope I can either get something I don't have, or it's something brand new just for the US (chance would be a fine thing though).

Question...what if I had PLATINUM status and an extra 300 points on my account.
Why didn't it jump to GOLD after it got reset?
c0ldb33r
07-01-2009, 11:19 PM
Because all the points get wiped with respect to status.
Those 300 points can't be used anymore for status.
megasdkirby
07-01-2009, 11:22 PM
Ah, makes sense.
So my guess is that even though I had 300 points "in the bank", and today I placed another 140 points, then that means that it only sees 140 with regards to the status.
So that means I need to get 600 points (300 previously and 300 new) to achieve GOLD status again.
That bites. Oh well. :)
Cobra Commander
07-01-2009, 11:37 PM
But at least you have the pionts to buy stuff with. The good part is that even if you spend all your coins, your status doesn't get reset. That does help.

Like I figured, the rewards were less than exciting.
Platinum
Choice of:
1. Mario Replica Hat
2. Doc Louis's Punch-Out (Wii download exclusive)
Gold
2010 Club Nintendo Calender
Guess I'll be getting the Mario hat.
calthaer
07-14-2009, 09:11 AM
Those rewards are somewhat less-than-exciting.
I wonder if the Doc download can be moved to the SD card? If so, I predict its rarity will go down quite a bit as people figure a way to copy it and transfer it. Even so...I don't really dig that hat; I have enough schwag that it would have to be seriously cool to consider junking the house up for it. And that hat is not terribly cool, nor is it exclusive to North America / Canada, if I recall.

QFT. I wouldn't be surprised if hackers find a way to crack the code and make the prize downloadable to any Wii. Then anyone with the TP hack can get the download.
Obviously if it was a disc containing the fight with Doc Louis my feelings would change. That at least has some value to it.
Prizes do suck, but I remember reading that Club Nintendo Japan's first year of prizes were also pretty bad. Hopefully the rest of the Club Nintendos will improve as time goes on.

If you are talking about the new prizes people get for being "Gold" or "Platinum" then you haven't given it enough time.
Maybe I'll be the first...it's free so why complain? You pay $50 for Nintendo's game and you get a game to play plus a code to get coins to get something free. With Sony and Microsoft you pay $60 for their game and you get the game and nothing else.
You buy some of Nintendo's games and you get a free Game & Watch game or Hanafuda cards etc, plus you get a free Mario hat or new Punch-Out!! DLC. I think both of those are cool.

... With Sony and Microsoft you pay $60 for their game and you get the game and nothing else.
Sony and Microsoft have given away gobs of free DLC since both of their online store/marketplace services launched.
Everything as small as free wallpapers/themes/avatars/mp3s to as big as full-fledged games.
It's great that Nintendo is giving away free exclusive stuff ... but I don't think it's fair to say that they're the only people doing it.

I got the hat because now I can be a dork and wear it around should I so choose. I was half thinking about getting the DLC for Punch-Out, but I don't even have it yet and don't know when I will be getting it, so I just went with what will have a more lasting impression.
Now its time to start to enter codes again to get back to Platinum.

I went with the hat because it's physical. It looks pretty cool too. I expect the Doc Lewis fight to probably be hacked onto some SD card and put onto the net for download sometime in the future, or just rereleased, rendering it a not-as-good gift.

But who's to say that the game won't get a rerelease? Something physical is much less likely to get a re-release than something digital.

I'm going for the hat. I want something physical in my hands or to put on the shelf and look at. I wish we'd get something a little better. Japan got the Wii TV remote one year and Tingle's Balloon fight another year IIRC.
But I'll not be bitching. After years and years of yelling about having no Club Nintendo, I am happy we're getting somethinig.

Why can't we choose a Toad mushroom hat?
Anyway, I'm choosing the Mario hat. I'm am fine with either one, its not like we are paying for either one.
Went hat.
I actually no longer own a Wii, after racking up all those Club Nintendo points, so given the choice between DLC I can neither use nor resell (or the Gold-level calendar, I suppose) and an oversized floppy Mario hat ... well, I went with the hat.
I'm not a "Mario fan" who would enjoy this type of thing ... in fact, I'll probably hide it away in a drawer so nobody sees it. I'm a bit disappointed, really. Guess I was hoping for a physical game or hardware accessory of some sort.

I think the trade off of waiting a year for a first party game to actually drop in price is better than actually earning enough points on games that are $50 and won't ever drop in price, for items you can get elsewhere that are less than $20.
Just remember. The Wii and DS has yet to have a first party title price drop from Nintendo. You can currently buy most first party Sony and Microsoft games at atleast $20-30 cheaper at a retail store. Cheaper than that if you go through places like Amazon.

Got the hat.
Choosing between a goofy looking hat and an intangible game that I'll never play because I have absolutely no interest in - well, it wasn't a tough decision.
I was hoping for a game too, but like Cobra Commander said, its a hell of a lot better than what we haven't been getting.

Not true. They aren't 'official' price drops, but if you're a savvy shopper, you can find great deals on first party Nintendo games if you have some patience and look around a little (and check out Cheapassgamer once in a while). For instance, I picked up both of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DS games for $10 each during an Amazon sale a few months back, and just recently I picked up a new Professor Layton at a Blockbuster Clearance event for $9.99.

I was "gold" so I got the calendar. If I recall I stopped registering games once I reached gold level because I knew I wouldn't reach platinum level and didn't want to waste points. I am actually kind of glad. I don't know what the calendar will be like, but the DLC is ultimately worthless, and the hat looks kind of generic.

Hanafuda cards (Flower Cards when translated into English) are basically Japan's version of playing cards. You can play a multitude of different games with them, and the ones on Club Nintendo are Mario in style. See more here:

cool. thanks for the info. i was checking out the nintendo club site after posting that. There still isn't anything that interests me. I got the G&W collection at EB Games some time ago and it's pretty crappy.
Right now I'm thinking that I might want the Legend of Zelda poster set, but I really just want the history of Zelda poster, not the Twilight Princess or the Wind Waker one. I wish you could buy just one of them for ~150-200 points, not all three for 350.
