Hi everyone thought to pose an interesting question here. Since TVs are slowly becoming HD ready people are going to get rid of their old ones. My question is if you have a large retro collection and want to play games on it (ie Atari 2600 or NES games like Duck Hunt) what should you look for in getting your retro gaming TV?

Well I'd go with a nice sony wega/xbr crt they're built well have great picture and are cheap. Some are digital some aren't but if you use cable with it no worries. As for gaming just plug in and play.

You can pick up older used TVs for like nothing these days. I've still got my 32" trinitron and it's going strong. I've got a 27" CRT Toshiba cinemadisplay with component/svideo/RF and RCA abilities I'm keeping around for my "room of doom" - aka office ;)

No, if you want the true retro experience for Atari or NES, go to a thrift store and buy an old 13" color tv with seperate knobs for UHF and VHF where you have to actually screw the rf switch into those two little screws in the back for the old antenna.
NOW you're retro gaming properly. :D

The Color/BW switch is worn out and the built in rabbit ears have long since broken off. This was my very first TV, handed down to me after my folks got one of those fancy new sets with one of those newfangled "remote controls".
