Title says it all. You could also answer saying that you have a fair mix of both.

For me, I collect a lot of CD based games. I've stocked up on PS1, Saturn, 3DO, Dreamcast, etc games. I have various other cartridges from other consoles but most of my collection is made up of CD based games.

Mine's probably fairly close to half and half. I have a ton of disc based stuff (particularly last Gen) but also have a bunch of carts. Atari 2600 is the system I have the most for (170 carts) but I also have 118 discs for my Gamecube.

edit: After actually checking the numbers I have 710 carts and 433 discs. So, not quite as evenly balanced as I originally thought.

At this time I only collect carts. I have a 2 and 4 year old who like to play and plunder through my stuff, so I can't get any disc based systems until they're just a little older (my 10 year old step-son scratched about half of my disc based games a few years back and that was when I decided to switch to carts).

Discs win out for me. The estimated tally is about 575 discs to about 313 cartridges. This is because while I have about 200 SNES carts, it's the only cartrige-based system I have more than 50 titles for...and I have 3 disc-based systems that I have over 100 titles each for.

let's not forget FDDs based games, please, close to 1000 here either on 5 1/4" and 3 1/2"

1,004 cartridges vs 466 CDs. That's about what I would have thought it'd be, of the 5 systems I have 100+ games for, 4 are cartridge systems.

Carts, by an absurd margin. Hell, I have more SNES doubles than all cd-based games combined. I do own a DC, PS2, GC, Saturn and Wii but I don't have the obscene amount of games for those systems when compared to the classics.

Between the NES and SNES I have more carts than discs. Adding all, it's 198 discs vs 401 carts

I'm about even right now. Roughly 200 CD based games and 200 cartridges.

CDs by a significant margin after I sold most of my NES stuff a few years ago.

Cart = 514
CD = 615
other = 20

other is arcade (even though it is in cart form, it is arcade), lcd games, plug n play games.

Definitely discs. I've got some Genesis, N64, GB, GBC, GBA, but more from my PS, PS2, PS3, DC, etc. Though I wish I had more cartridges. Gotta throw some new wants on my wanted list...

For me it's cd based games. My favorite console is the xbox, so I have mostly games for that.

The systems with the most games are cart based, but then I have more CD based systems than cart and they're number is sizeable. I'd say they are really close with floppies and flash far behind.

Carts definitely win out in mine, but I'm not sure of the exact margin. It's probably something like an 80/20 split.

Cartridges by a good size margin. I didn't get too much into disc-based gaming in real bulk until the death of the original Xbox in stores, when prices dropped to dirt cheap levels. I've got over 200 Xbox games, around 90 DC games, and maybe 250-350 altogether for games in every other disc-based format (PS2, GC, 3DO, Saturn, PS1, Nuon, CD-i, Sega CD, etc.) but far more cartridges for early consoles and computers. Not to mention floppy disks, which is a whole other can of worms.

Cartridges by a 60/40 margin. The PSX and PS2 make up 98% of my discs and the NES and Gameboy take the lion's share of the cartridges.

I used to have more carts than cd/dvd/bluray etc until part of my collection was stolen... now I collect mainly disc based systems; especially psx rpgs/saturn imports/ps2 rpgs

I have over 1,000 complete excellent-mint disc based games.

I have like 5 cds right now. and around 60 carts (mostly genesis and neo geo) I don't really collect or at least not for long before I have to sell

Discs by a huge margin.

Gurn13
12-19-2008, 09:39 PM
cart=968
disc=906
other=38 (E-reader, Hu card, etc)

Hmmm.... I thought the disc based would have been a bigger percentage.

Funny, I only have CD games.

Nearly 400 CDs, eep.

Carts, by a large margin.

About 55 percent disc based games, 45 percent cartridge.

UMD media counts as a disc, right? LOL

I have more carts than CD's right now, but that won't last much longer... I buy alot more CD's than carts these days, so CD's are catching up to carts

I'm about even now, i've been buy more SNES games lately.

Thousands of cartridges, only hundreds of discs. IMO, nothing disc based is collectible because nothing post-crash is collectible.

I didn't really start collecting until when the PSX was released, so my CD collection is far larger than my cartidge based collection.

I'm guessing around 300+ cds and 100+ cartridges.

I'd estimate I have 100 disks and 150 carts.

It had always been Cds for a long time since I had a large Saturn collection and then just bits and pieces for everything else. Since really getting into the Master System (and to a lesser extent Genesis and 32X), my cartridges easily trump all my CDs. I'd say it's like 500 to 250.

Carts by an enormous margin.

videogameking26
12-21-2008, 07:48 AM
Awhole lot more CD based games, really it's like the majority of my collection....but I do have a fair amount of cartridges...but nothing to compared to my CD based games.

I've got about 140 disks out of about 830 games, so cartridges by a good margin.

CDs followed by floppies and then carts I guess. I don't have a lot of cart games.

Carts by far. Mainly because they are cheaper to find and collect.

Carts, easily, if I count DS games.

I have way more cd based game sthan cartridge ones. And I play the cd ones more too. After all, you can't go online with cartridge games these days.

When I was an N64 collector, it was carts by a large number. Now it's easily disc based. DVD first, Bluray second and CD third.

More carts than discs here. I always assume by a large margin, but I suspect that if I actually tallied between the two formats it'd be closer than I think.

Wow, my collection is a lot more balanced than I expected it to be. I'd say it's roughly 60% carts, 40% discs. The carts are more spread out across multiple systems, while about half of all my discs are PS1 games, which is also the system I own the most games for.
