Agree? Disagree? Strong year for Wii games? Weak year for Wii games?

After reading IGN's description of de Blob, I want to play it now more than ever. I also agree with all of the World of Goo praise. I highly recommend it.

I'm a big defender of the Wii's library, but their Top 12 includes 6 games I couldn't care less about. *shrug*

The Wii had a good year, but not an amazing year. I actually think last year may have been slightly better.

I agree with j_factor. If it were not for a few key releases (No More Heroes, MM9, Mario Kart) this year would have wound up rather flat on the whole for me. I am really looking forward to 09 releases though. Two weeks worth of new release awesomeness are coming up End of January to Beginning of February. Madworld and House of the Dead Overkill... DO WANT to the 2nd power. :D

It was nice to see two of my favorites get some attention. Boom Blox and de Blob are two of the best games I've ever played. Sure they both appeal to a more "casual gamer" but the amount of time I've spent playing Boom blox with my family is staggering. de Blob for me has it all, an really wild soundtrack that reminds me of NiGHTS, as it changes depending of the colours you use. A brand new idea, a new character and superbly done graphics.

I thought this year for the Wii was OKAY overall....While we were blessed with some great first party stuff earlier this year, the holidays were kind of flat for for big N in my humble opinion. I guess some of it for me was that I just wasnt impressed with animal crossings newest version...it just seemed to not evolve enough for me. With all of the focus on that game being pushed for the holidays....I just wish that they had more umph at the end of the year in terms of A+ titles. I was happy to see Wiiware this year and to see some great titles. I definately think 09 will be better for them in terms of releasing some a more balanced library. Mad World and Condut look impressive Here are my favorites this past year.

De Blob
Mario Kart Wii
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Wii Fit
World of Goo (WiiWare)
BlastWorks: Build, Trade, Destroy
Mega Man 9 (WiiWare)
Okami
Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection
Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party
Tetris Party (WiiWare)
Wario Land: Shake It!

I've seen many copies out at retailers. Always electronics stores or game specialty though.

Don't forget Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008)...and The Conduit and Cursed Mountain (2009). :)

I still need to play both of those!

Guitar Hero: World Tour, Rock Band 2, and Call of Duty: World at War are the big, highly-rated Wii games this Christmas. They've received fantastic reviews.

I agree regarding first-party games though; this year was front-loaded...not that I'm complaining. I've played a ton of Mario Kart Wii online. :)

Yeah, I'm impressed with WiiWare so far. For every garbage game, there's one that's great. Again, I recommend World of Goo, LostWinds, and Dr. Mario Online Rx.

I'm also looking forward to MadWorld and The Conduit, as well as Cursed Mountain, Deadly Creatures, and whatever Factor 5 is working on. It should be good!

I was happy with Baroque. A bit odd of a game but it was a decent RPG. Definitly not GotY material though.

I'd put Tatsunoko vs Capcom in there, though it's an import.
