Hey,
i got a wavebird that has a defect to the right.. when i start my GC without touching the wavebird it still keeps going to the right as if i was using the analog stick.
Anyone know how to fix this?
thanks :)

Have you tried the pad reset? Hold X, Y and Start for a few seconds and see if that helps. If it doesn't sounds like there could be an actual issue with the stick (just wear and tear, or electrical inside).

Try holding the stick completely straight when you turn the GameCube on. If that doesn't work, what I've been doing with my PS2 controllers is (while the game is on) holding the stick in the direction that it "messed up" to, then quickly slamming it in the opposite direction. It's the only way I've found to fix the problem (other than buying a new controller).

thanks for the advice :)
both methods didn't work tho :( guess the controller is doomed

It might help if you attach a rubber band the stick so it's pulling in the opposite direction for a couple of days. I've had that work for one of my wired GC controllers that I left in my travel bag for too long (was pushing the stick to the left the whole time).

Mine acted funny with the shoulder buttons (Made a a few post about it here I believe when I was trying to figure it out), and finally changed the batteries and it was fully cured.
You have tried changing batteries right? I can't imagine why low battery would be doing this, but it was causing some (But not all) of my buttons to keep cutting out, which also doesn't make sense. But what harm can it do trying?
I was also told by others here that the joysticks and buttons are interchangeable with normal GC controllers, if you're up for transplant surgery on your Wavebird.
