So I've been slowly drifting towards gathering up classic Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. I've noticed international prices (from the UK, Austrailia, etc) are actually cheaper for me to buy than games from the US and Canada. Since I usually collect my portable stuff CIB it's nice to save a few bucks here and there.

What I'm wondering is if PAL GBC games work in NTSC GBC systems?

Not only are Euro/US handhelds interchangeable, but Japanese too. There is no region-encoding on any of Nintendo's handhelds, so no import worries!

Fixed.

Regioning the handhelds is a bigger pain than its worth to them, so unless you're watching a different region PSP movie you'll be fine with just about any handheld that has a cross ocean brother.

Its worth noting that the DSi has region encoding as well ;P

I thought that was just the DSi Shop, the games are still region free.

You may want to check out some European exclusives too. I recommend the Konami GB Collection series. Each volume has four classic Game Boy games that were colorized for the collection. Not only did the collections not come out in the US, but they also contain some games that never came out on black and white Game Boy in the US either. I'm particularly fond of Vol. 3 because it has Pop'n TwinBee, a very fun little shooter in one of my favorite shmup franchises, and the only English translation you'll find of the first Game Boy Goemon game.
