Back during the PS1's reign, different colored shells were widely available for the system. Ten years later, their next to impossible to find. I've scoured the entire internet and watched eBay like a hawk.nn Does anyone know where I could score a solid black shell for my trusty old PS1*?
*Not PSOne, mind you, the old, boxy, grey PS1...

^ Thanks.
Yah, NCX was the only site I came up with that sold them at all. I've been hitting eBay several times a day and the black smoke for the PSOne is the closest I've come. :(

I have a clear green one myself on my modded PSX.
Probably about 10 years old.
I keep my PSX hooked up in my entertainment center with a copy of ItMightBeNES (Nintendo Emulator) with a full US rom-set and two wireless pads. (Always a hit at parties!)
The plastic on the one I have has become very brittle over the years and the door button actually cracked off inside the unit forcing me to open it up and tape the door sensor down ... so no more multi disc PS1 games with that unit for me. (Not that I use anything other than the NES emulator in it.)

Is there still a demand for these? I know where to get some, but it's a B/M store. What colors are you looking for?

Vinyl dye is way better than spray paint for this kind of project. It actually alters the color of the plastic itself rather than just coating it, so it preserves the original texture and won't chip off.
Spray paint is good for painting the inside of a clear shell, though.

Jeez. I think they have dreamcast ones too. What's everyone's price point on these? I don't know how much they are at the store. B/M is brick and mortar, aka a retail store. No, they don't mail order.

^ I saw that. That's probably what I'll end up going with if nothing better turns up.
Honestly, I'd cough up whatever they were asking (plus whatever you'd want for facilitating the whole thing if you're willing...) as they are hard as HELL to find.

I found 0 PS1 shells in my search of 6 local stores. They must have sold them not too long ago. I found 1 DC shell, but it's on hold for CosmicMonkey.

I have two of these, and the listed compatibility is completely wrong.
It says 5501, 7501, and 9000, but the one I have doesn't have proper screw posts for 5501.
It does work with my 7001, though, even though that model isn't listed, and I assume it works with the 7501 and 9000, since they use the same size motherboard.
If you want, I can sell you one of mine.

I may take you up on that if my search continues to come up with no success. Dunno why they're so hard to find, the console is only 13 years old... :(
