Games with Dinosaurs

My nieces are visiting next week for a videogame play date. The oldest, my God-daughter, is 8 and loves dinosaurs. I'm trying to think of something fairly current-gen (PS2 or more recent) that features dinosaurs, has a cool dinosaur boss, or even teaches you something about dinosaurs. And I'm pretty much drawing a blank.

There were some ideas in there but in this case you don't have to BE the dnosaur.

I know that you said current gen....but there IS the game "Dinosaurs" for the PSX. If you want to instill nightmares, there's always the Dino Crisis series.....the last one was on the Xbox.

Well you got the Turok games, and Midway Arcade Treasures 2 has Primal Rage. Not sure you want an 8 year old playing those. There was also Jurassic Park Operation Genesis on the PS2. Thats all i can think of.

Also not current gen, but my favorite Dinosaur game has to be Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja for either SNES or GENESIS.

EDIT: There is also the guncon game "Dino Stalker" for PS2 but that is totally rated "M" for Mature.

Dash of Destruction, being discussed in Modern Gaming, is a simple multiplayer game that features dinosaurs chasing Doritos delivery trucks. You can be the truck or the dinosaur.

It's a free download on Xbox Live Arcade. Not much for education or realism, but the theme and price are right.

There are three Land Before Time Games for the PSX. That probably doesn't help much, though, but it's a little closer to current gen. Probably not really that educational about what dinosaurs were actually like, either.

Oh, and there's a Dinotopia game for the Gamecube and Xbox. Again, not scientifically accurate and probably not very good. I don't know much about it, only that my mom once told me she really liked a Dinotopia video.

Finally, how about Starfox Adventures. It did start off as Dinosaur Planet, after all, and is very dino heavy.

Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure is on the ps2, and wii. Its a quality game, and very easy, a 8 year old should be able to play it.

Hmm I can't think of any current gen ones but there are the 2 Jurassic Park games on Genesis, as well as Dinosaurs for Hire(Genesis) and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs(SCD)

I'm going to suggest a new-ish Flash dino game that I think stands up there with some of the greats of yore - especially if you have that program that maps keyboard keys to a gamepad for Flash gaming action.

Man, I love this game; it's just so awesome - catching rides on pterodactyls, eating the little dinos, riding the wave of doom. It rocks, and it's fairly retro.
