So I have a PS1 the model with standard A/V wires and no need for Sony's proprietary cables. I just installed a new laser for Rich's PSX Parts and did the sled fix to prevent a laser burn out. I also found an extra chip so I put it in the PS1 and works like a charm. If interested PM me and we can work something out. Comes with A/V and power cables, as well as one Sony brand dual shock and PS1 MC. Works like a brand new system as I am playing Persona 2 English translation on it as we speak.

A normal PS1, no. A Model 1001, possibly. A refurbished Model 1001 with a mod chip? I'm surprised this post stayed up for more than an hour without someone replying.

I would have jumped on this, but I have a Breaker Pro.

What does the "mod" do exactly?

you can play backups, like burn a disc, & then you dont have too buy it.....oops thats illegal, i mean burn a copy of your collection.....& you dont have too worry about trashing expensive games.......................play the copy.....

Gotcha:embarrassed:

Must have sounded like a stupid question, but my tek skillz stopped at the TRS-80 and a few paint and LED mods.

You can do the swap trick with all consoles. This model has the standard a/v jacks in the back and have awesome sound compared to the other models. PS1's 1000-7501 series can use a no solder plug mod ,but only the 1000-1001 have the standard a/v jacks. They aslo have Sony's crappy proprietary cables, but no need to use them with this model. It has a comparable out put of audio comparable to high end CD players. This one doesn't have the plug mod but a 5 wire stealth mod chip. It originally had just a plug mod but I found a chip lying around so I chipped it to get a few bucks for X-mas.

Where'd you get the laser from? I've got one of those (was a pre-release console from Sony :) ) and would like to get it running again.
