Hey guys, I'm looking for either an exclusively classic gaming podcast or a podcast that at least devotes some time to older generations. I know one DP forum member had something going for a few episodes, but I can't seem to find much via Google. I need something to make the long car rides this week more bearable. \\^_^/
As an aside, I currently listen to the following podcasts/shows available for download:
This American Life http://thislife.org/Radio_Archive.aspx
Le Show http://harryshearer.com/news/le_show/
Pet Food Alpha (FFXI) http://www.petfoodalpha.com
I'm also interested in any generally interesting podcasts you guys can contribute.

There has been a lot of classic podcast come and go, though not all of them have been all that great. One of the longest ones, and perhaps one of the longest running podcasts I know of, is the Retro Gaming Radio.

They have been broadcasting since 2000. I'm web savvy and even I didn't know what podcasting was back then. :)
Now, theres also Destructoid's RetroforceGO! and 1up's Retronauts, but they typically don't delve into pre-8bit consoles or gaming.

Unfortunately there isn't too many currently updated podcasts besides those three that I can remember. Those three are fairly decent, depending on your listening tastes.

I find retroforce is usually a couple of teenager sounding people sitting around talking without scripts, yelling and generally getting up to shenanigans. I'm sure it's fun for them to make, but it really isn't fun to listen to. Personally, it drives me up the wall.

Yea, that's why its really up to tastes. Though, they aren't all that young at all. Chad or Topher is probably the oldest and they are around 29 or 30.
They are just a bit enthusiastic. :) Chad especially.

Unfortunately, Retro Gaming Radio has pretty much run it's course. Shane R. Monroe has essentially shut it down. I don't think there's ever going to be any more episodes.

IGN's "Retrocity" podcast is surprisingly good. Short, but sweet.
Sad to see RGR go, but it lasted a long time. You can still get some episodes archived on the site, or order DVDs of past years.

Gah, I need to do that then. I've been putting off buying those DVDs for a while now.
I forgot about Retrocity. The initial episodes weren't as good, at least in my opinion, but these last few episodes have been really decent. I fully support the Retrocity endorsement. :)

Retronauts from 1up gets my vote. Tons of episodes, mostly (lately) on time and fun, interesting discussion.

I would agree that Retronauts is the most solid. Contains knowledge and personal experience. Jeremy Parish has a solid knowledge of the history, but does not really go pre-8bit.
I used to listen to RetroForceGO, but I do not have to fill as much time with podcasts and the more into the hobby you are the more annoying the show can be. Seriously they had an argument claiming that Street Fighter 2 came out on the NES, so if inaccuracies are not a problem for you then go for it.

Wow thanx! I never heard of any of this. Now I have hours of stuff to check out. Thanx. I didn't know what the first 3 were though. Don't even look. I'm sorry but when I went there and searched for videogames...... nothin. So I searched video games...... nothin. So I searched Nintendo....... nothin. That guy must be realy happy with the replies you all gave. Me too.
