I found one and I don't think it could be real. Some kid could have done this 15 years ago. I googled it and theres not to much info. Anyone know anything about these?

Mistakes at the factory happen all the time. I've run across two or three upsidedown 2600 carts in my day and I can guarantee that they came that way from the factory (one was new in box). I can't see why NES carts would be any different.

I don't think just any "kid" could have put the labels upside down. Most likely they'd rip it off and it'd be unrepairable. That'd be a lot of effort(which I don't know is even possible) to rip the label off and put it back on upside down.

Plus unlicensed publishers used to do that a lot. Is your cart an official Nintendo approved game or not?

I've never seen an NES game (or any other post-crash game cartridge) with an upside down label, though I wouldn't be surprised if I ever came across one.

However, this thread did remind me of CBS Electronics' 5200 carts - IIRC, the labels on each cart were applied upside down, which is why you'll see the orange "CBS Electronics" band on the spine instead of the game title.

I've owned a Majesco Pac-Man 2 (SNES) with an upside-down label. I made my very first post here on DP about it all those years ago wanting to know what it was worth. Nothing, if I recall.

Never heard of that but I did hear of someone opening a brand new game and it had no label at all. SNES Contra 3 IIRC.

That Captain Comic upside down label is actually fairly common and is probably the only 'confirmed' upside down label. :)

Last year from my dp secret santa I got a moonwalker for genesis with an upside down label with no sign of label wear that would have been caused by peeling off the label or from the curve it would have had from the bend in the sticker if it was on the cart normal before being turned upsidedown.

I could try to put a pic but for some reason it always says it's to big? But yeah this one has the bend in the label and the edges are messed up. Someone totally flipped it. It realy wouldn't be to hard. The thing is when I looked them up there seems to be alot. I'm preety sure mine is a fake but I was more curious what you all knew about them. It just seems shadey? The cart is a PRO Wrestling.

I've seen some lables barely held on by crusty 20+ year old glue before so it's not too far of a strech to think that someone might have reglued one. I've done it myself to a genesis cart who's label was comming off. I don't know why someone would put one back on upside down though. Probally for the same reason that spoon kept his upside down label captain comic cart .

It's also possible for things like this to happened at the factory. I've seen machines solder electronics chips flipped backwards and belly side up before and I'd sure a label placer isn't anywhere near as complicated.

I feel like I've come across quite a few upside labels for the Genesis. (One of them was Moonwalker). Don't remember ever seeing an Nes one though.

I would think games like most Atari games and some of the unlicensed NES games would be more likely to have the label flipped as an error, from the factory. The particular games I am referring to have square labels and fit on the front of the cartridge (and don't wrap around an edge).

For most games like the NES, SNES and Genesis, the sticker is on the front of the cartridge and wraps around the top edge. I think these would be hard to, at least make it out of the factory.

Assuming, there was some sort of quality control, it would be much easier to spot a misplaced label for a game that wraps around the edge since the part that wraps around the edge generally has the name of the game on it. If the sticker is reversed, all that is shown is the bottom part (of what should be the front) which is basically nothing.

A cartridge that has a separate sticker on the front could be harder to find/easier to miss. Or since it does not create as much of a problem as a sticker that wraps around, quality control may not care so much. Also, the buyer may not care, or even notice, since most people buy games to play them first anyway.

I have a copy of Football on Atari 2600 with an upside-down text label, but I haven't run across an NES game like that. Not that I doubt it could happen.

I always did find Tengen NES carts amusing as the labels were designed to face the opposite direction from licensed NES games (and most other unlicensed ones). No big deal, but the Tengen games look funny in a toploader.
