PS1 classics are getting better...Suikoden 1 now available on PSN...

I've had the disc version for 11 years now so it's not that big a deal, BUT, I never bought Suikoden 2 when it was out (I saw it several times in stores). When I finally got around to wanting to play it, it was $100+ on ebay. Let's hope Suikoden's release opens the door to Suikoden 2.

I own both the first and second, and while the second is technically better, the first one is much more enjoyable. The second one drags on quite a bit.

After "you know who" is killed. That's when the game ends for me.

I picked this up at a pawn shop a few years back for a similar price, so I guess I'll be sitting this one out. It is nice that they're finally releasing some notable PSX games tho, here's hoping they'll continue this trend.

I'm glad to see that Sony has put up two great games in the past two weeks on the PSN store. Castelvania Chronicles and then Suikoden? for $12 you are basically getting $60-$80 worth of games if you were to have bought the physical copies. I have both games for PS1 but I'll download them to support the hopeful release of Suikoden 2.

I suppose the best way to entice other companies to make that happen would be to buy the good stuff that's up there, and be as vocal as possible in public forums that we want more top-tier PS1 releases.

Anybody have any idea how exactly this process works Vs. Nintendo's VC releases?

PS1 games don't need to be "re-submitted" to the ESRB or anything, do they?

yes! this is awesome! I loved that game back in the day I will definitely getting this game. I am perplexed by the price of Suikoden II though. I remember buying it new, playing through and beating it. I don't recall being all that impressed with it and sold it after beating it. It did not mark me like suikoden 1 that's for sure. Maybe if it comes to the store I'll see what the fuss is all about, but I think it's overrated...

Yes, they have to be resubmitted. I think its because Sony wants to them to work on the PS3 and the PSP. There's actually a list of PS1 games that have been resubmitted for the PS Store but not much has come out it other than the Castlevania game finally showing up.

I would be interested in seeing this list...

The PSP version is tops, but requires 2 copies for multiplayer (and another person in the room with a PSP), and the anthology version is the arcade rom, so it doesn't have the awesome world tour mode, the extra characters or the dramatic battle modes that the PS1 (and Dreamcast) version had.

Both of those versions are good ... but I'd still like it on PSN.
