Do you ever have all your games running in attract mode with the sound on, but don't feel like playing anything? Sometimes I do that whenever I get finished lurking KLOV, or reading arcade websites and I'm in an arcade kind of mood. Just to hear the noise while I make dinner or clean the house, maybe turn the lights off when I want to relax or whatever.

Do you ever do that?

Yes,I do it all the time...I really enjoy it..I enjoy the ambience of it..

..at night..The lights dimmed,Arcade Machines,Slot Machines lights flashing...The Pinball machine lit up it ROCKS!!..My Kids Love it!!

And We won't play a thing,just watch..

I even do it when Cooking:
Since I have the Japanese Neo Geo MVS Arcade machine in the kitchen I just leave it on in attract mode..

If I;m in a room with an Arcade machine it it'll turn the machine on just ro have the ambience

I would totally do this IF i had a single arcade game. I've been lurking around looking for something i actually want for the right price. That and a spot to put the thing once i get it.

I've done that a few times with my machines (5 of the 10 in the garage are working right now).

But for my quick fix, I'll put on the Phosphor Dot Fossils DVD.

Here is a weird one for you. I do but I don't have an arcade machine. PS2. I turn on the PS2 with GTA 3 and listen to chatterbox with Lazlo. It makes me laugh

"Attract mode" that must be an arcade cab feature. I have never heard of it before.

Do the Player's choice cabs have that feature? I don't remember seeing it anywhere.

Attract mode is just the game when you power it on and it just plays the demo of the game & makes noises. It's supposed to attract customers to the arcade. I'm sure that most arcades have one but I have never played a Playchoise 10 cab. You would just have to turn it on and let it run to find out.

I've always wanted a kitchen with Burgertime and Food Fight in it.

When I had a couple of machines I used to turn them on but I've only got one so it doesn't add a whole lot and I've read that I should install some new fuses before I leave it on for an extended period of time.

no, i guess im the scrooge of arcade gaming. the minute its not getting played its turned off and unplugged to reduce wear on the hardware of the machine, the monitor, and the power supply, and because i turn off everything i can to lower my electric bill. yea, i cherish my 3 candy cabs, and im over-protective of them.

I had to move it next to the Big Reds to keep the Woodgrain in the Kitchen for pick-up but I don't like it next to my big reds so back in the kitchen it went..Plus thee candy really needs to be in a place by itself unless nerxt to another Candy.

Not quite "ambiance" but semi-related ...

I have Daphne (laser disc arcade emu) in my cab set to run the audio attract for Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, DL II, Road Avenger, Cobra Command, Cliff Hanger etc. etc. once every 8-10 cycles ... it's funny if I am called away from my cab to answer the phone or something and 10 minutes later I relax or start doing something else in the room only to be scared crap-less by

(BLARING MUSIC) "DRAGON'S LAIR, THE FANTASY ADVENTURE WHERE YOU CONTROL A VALIANT KNIGHT!!!!!"

There's the "Arcade Ambiance" CDs...those are nice.

Currently I'm working on my own ambiance sounds. This is the prototype. The next revision will be better.

Speaking of...how power much does a typical cabinet use? Is it more than a modern PC since it's running on older non-'energy star' monitors with lights and the like?

I only plug mine in when I'm actually going to play it but I don't like plugging and unplugging it all the time either. The arcade ambiance CD's sound like a good idea though.
