View Full Version : Odd SFC copier problem

I have a Super UFO Pro 7 copier and two Super Famicoms, and it only fully works with one. One SFC is the early model with the separate SPC700 module, and the other is the newer revision (not a SNES/SFC 2) that has the SPC700 mounted directly on the motherboard.
The newer model works with the Super UFO just fine and never has any real problems, but the older model acts strange with it. The copier will boot up and I can surf through all the options, but if I try to access the disk at all then the drive spins and won't stop, and the screen prompt stays at "No disk found". This system plays advanced games like StarFox just fine, so I doubt it's a bad cartridge port or RAM.
I find it very odd that the old SFC will boot up the copier but will refuse to play disks. For one thing, if copy protection was an issue then it should just plain not work at all and/or should affect the newer model, but it does neither. And doesn't the copier itself handle disk operations since the whole wacky setup is invisible to the SFC?
I've done the usual troubleshooting such as cleaning with Q-tips n' alcohol, reseating the ICs, and swapping drives but nothing makes a difference. I'd like to get it working with my older SFC since it has better video output....

That's a weird one. I have a UFO 7 and 8, and both have worked with a 1st-generation SNES and SFC (no Jrs.) You do have adequate power supplies for both the SFC and copier, right?

The SFC supply is a genuine one, and I tried multiple ones for the UFO, from 7.2v to 9v around 1 amp.
