Hey guys, for Christmas I received a FC3 plus Famiclone for Christmas, and I thought I should do a quick review of it.
Build Quality: The unit itself actually feels very sturdy, and the version I have is a flat black matte finish. The buttons don't feel cheap, and the pin connectors in each slot are extremely tight, and ensure a great connection.
Controllers: The system comes with two controllers, and surprisingly they are pretty decent, and fairly sturdy. The button layout is similar to that of a 6 button Genesis controllers, along with a select button, and L and R triggers. Additionally, the d-pad is awesome since it feels just like a genesis controller. The only down-side is that the controllers use 9 pin Yobo made connectors.
Light gun: I can't really say much about this except for the fact that mine sucks ass. The range is under 2 feet, and the plastic feels cheap. I believe that the light gun I have is malfunctioning.
NES Compatibility: The NES compatibility is pretty good, the only downsides being that the color sometimes has too much yellow (this is rare), and that the sound is sometime off (though it only seems to seriously affect Mario games). I am unsure as to what games previous NoAC consoles had issues with, and I am probably unable to test this because I most likely don't have them.
The controller layout for the NES is slightly off, as the layout is identical to the lettering on the controller. As you probably know the controller on the NES is laid out as such: B, then A. Since the controllers that come with the system are laid out: A,B, and C, the controller format is as such. So in games such as Punch-Out, what you would press for the left punch is now what you press for the right punch and vice-versa. I have found for Punch-Out the best thing to do is to use the B and C buttons for left and right, since they are laid out correctly then. On a related note, all buttons are used for the NES portion, as the X, Y, and Z buttons are used as turbo buttons, whenever the c button is pressed, it is as though you pressed both A and B together. Overall, I really like the NES side.
Genesis compatibility: In general the genesis compatibility is spot-on. The only thing keeping it form perfect is the fact that the color is slightly darker than the original system, and the sound is sometimes off (though this is unnoticeable 99% of the time). All of the games I have tested on it have played great.
The controller layout is perfect for the genesis as you can imagine, since the controller is based off the original genesis design.
SNES compatibilty: I don't really know much about the SNES side yet, since I have played the fewest games on it, though the sound and video seem to be perfect.
The controller layout is also very good for the SNES side.
Overall: If you need a fairly cheap ($50-$60) 3-in-1 Famiclone, this is it. It runs great, and I really have no complaints, aside from my stupid light gun.
