My younger brother gave Shining in the Holy ark, Sega Ages, Bubble Bobble also featuring Rainbow Islands, and Darius Gaiden for Christmas.

Bubble Bobble also featuring Rainbow Islands works fine, but I have a problem.

I had problems getting Sega Ages to load in my system. The Version of Shining of the Holy Ark couldn't load on my system, but My younger brother's version of Shining of the Holy Ark works on my system with no issue.

Darius Gaiden didn't work my system either. My younger brother's version didn't work on my system either.

The catch is all the games My younger brother bought for me for Christmas works on his Sega Saturn. He tried them again after I told him I had problems with the games and they still work on his system with no problem.

I decided to check all 16 saturn games I own before today. I found out one out my 2 copies of Virtua cop can't load. It wasn't that case before I tried it out.

Are some NTSC-U ( united states ) and others NTSC-J ( japanese )?

If so one system might be modded to play imports and the other might not.

That's the only thing i can think of off the top of my head.

I was going to say the same thing. Saturns are region-specific unless you have a modchip or are using a device like the Action Replay.

The only problem I had with some games not loading, was the KNiGHTs controller. Some games will not boot up with that controller plugged into the system. "In The Hunt" is one of them.

My younger brothers saturn is a NTSC system and it is not modded to his knowledge. He bought his system used in 1999 or 2000.

The only way he can play imports is by using gameshark or a memory card plus . His System can't play imports without using a gameshark or memory card plus.

You just answered your own question. It's not modded to play imports, so you need some exterior device to do so. In your case, the Gameshark.

Not really. My younger brother tried the games without a gameshark.

Turn on the Saturn without disc or with the lid opened.

Put the disc and close the lid, don't press anything.

Read the message on the screen... voilá, you know what's going on.

If it says "Game Disc Unsuitable For This System" is region issue.

If it can't read, is disc issue or optical drive issue.
