Picked it up at a flea market for a few dollars, i tried completed listings on ebay but all i could find was the hard cover guide for the playstation re-release.

about 20-25$ for a mint one.
This one is not in best condition. Possibly around 10-15$

why does the one for the ps1 remake sell for so much more?

Maybe because it's a more modern game. And newer guides are generally in better condition.

I also have that guide (along with the PSOne version) and, I agree, it's about $25-30 in very good to great conditon. The PSOne guidebook is probably more expensive because it's as thick as a novel, hardcover, and very high quality pages inside (just like their Arc The Lad Guidebook). Even the Sega CD guide is nice for it's time. As they say in the Sega CD guide, it was a bitch to do full-maps (the type with actual screenshots from the game and pasted together to make one huge map) back in the day and it is nice to see them throughtout the guide.
