Merry Christmas to you all, hope youre all having a great holiday!

I was lucky enough for Santa to drop off a sparkly Red Sharp Twin Famicom for Xmas with a few games :) Its a dream, such a lovely system! I can finally play all my games in 60hz too (Damn PAL region!)

Anyways, my only gripe with it is the controller leads which must have been designer for someone who sits about an inch from the TV. My first option is to get longer leads for the back which will solve it fine...
However, reading this thread: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126026 I think I might be in luck.

The controller ports of the Micro Genius, look and fit exactly as those of the official Famicom/Sharp twin external single controller port, usually located in the front or the sides (as shown in the pic below), but with a different pinout....

An external controller port :)

I am clueless which pads will work on it! Ive included in the photo a NES and SMS pad port for comparison. Its the same shape and size of a Neo Geo AES Pad port, however the Neo Geo controllers when up is pressed the system is reset, any other button is all the buttons pressed together! grrr!

So 8 pins on the top row, 7 on the bottom with this kind of shape:

Im gonna have a dig thru my spare to see if any will fit. But hopefully ion the meantime, the NES gods here can help me out :) Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Unless you have joypads for the original Famicom, then you're not going to have anything that'll work with it. The pinout for the port is on Gamesx.com, so if you're handy with a soldering iron you can just wire an adapter.

Good luck finding one-- they made third-party pads with the 15-pinout like those for the original famicom. I've finally got a wireless one on the way, but it'll cost me $50. Not cheap even if you do find one.

However, here's a link to the blog post telling you how to wire an NES controller into your famicom: http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=8490331&publicUserId=5853157

I use the Playstation to FC adapter I bought from either tototek or LikSang back in the day. PS controllers on the FC do quite well. It plugs right in the expansion port.

Thanks for the link! its bookmarked and ill get building soon!

Also, thanks for the advice rbudrick! Ill keep my eyes open for one of those adapters. However I must admit, im more interested in getting an old chunky pad working on it ;)
