Anyone know if it's possible to play current versions of Golden Tee in MAME, like 2k3 or 2k4? I'm looking at the official rom list, and only see 2k as latest playable version. No CHD's either. Are they just not supported yet or do they have some crazy lockout technology that prevents the arcade data from being ripped?

On a somewhat related subject....could you play this with a trackball or something similar? (If so, I see that as awesome)

Just don't whack your monitor like those idiots at the bars do on those machines. Fuck I hate that.
Yes you can play the old ones with the trackball in the X-Arcade Tankstick. Probably others.

The reason I want to play Golden Tee so badly is because it'll give me an excuse to use this X-Arcade trackball I have. I bought it over a year ago to use in MAME on my modded Xbox only to find out there is no mouse or trackball support in the emulator. Doh! So in the box it sits.

If memory serves, the more recent versions aren't in MAME because that hardware is still sold and/or earning significantly for operators, and supporting the early 2000s releases on that hardware would mean the newer releases would be supported as well. I want to say the current hardware is different, so it will probably just be a few years until the newer games are included (the unofficial 3 year rule).

There is no trackball support for xbox with those controllers, period. Only PC.

Golfer one to putt...
I got 5 or 6 different versions of GT on my mame cab with a usb trackball. All working great and no chds needed.
If you are gonna hook up a trackball, I also recommend Shuffleshot & World Class Bowling.

I'm talking about a modded Xbox here. The X-Arcade trackball and sticks work fine on an Xbox in XBMC and certain apps like ScummVM. Just doesn't work in any of the MAME emulators (yet).
Lerxstnj, are any of these Golden Tee's you've got running in your MAME cab 2002 & up? I love World Class Bowling but haven't tried Shuffleshot yet.

Yes, the newest one I have is 2002. GT Supreme Edition Tournament 5.10.

Newbie here...just wanted to revisit this post. Any talk out there of the GT games post Supreme Tourney Ed. being in the works on MAME (behind the scenes, if nothing else)???
I too use the X-Arcade trackball for the older versions on MAME and they are fantastic!
If anyone knows anything about the newer versions, please share!

You can check out status for MAME...well, there's a constellation of websites out there. First place to look would be The Guru's page.
I know we're way outta date, but Norkusa, if you want to get some good use out of that trackball, you could always check out Centipede, Crystal Castles, and Cabal :) Admittedly I've never played a Golden Tee game; I might possibly like it. My last golf experience was one of the ancient versions of Fuji Golf (from Microsoft).

Heh, actually my trackball is still new & unused. I play all of the trackball MAME games with my mouse and am happy with that. I actually have Golden Tee '99 & 2000 up and running in MAME OSX right now, but I'm waiting for at least 2k4 to be supported until I break the X-Arcade trackball out.
BTW, does anyone know if X-Arcade still sells their trackball? I don't see it listed on their site.

Also try "Shuuz" and "American Horseshoes"--a couple of older games I may eventually swap into my Golden Tee cabinet.

Found through a google search, as you can see, they say the are discontinuing the product, and point you to their Tankstick...

Or the assembly itself.

I love trackball games like this, but never got the mouse to respond the way I like. Especially for my favorites like Birdie King
