Last night I saw a Zelda 2 that was Grey and didn't even say Zelda on it... just Link To The Past. Is this unusual? I dind't know this game came in anything but the gold cart. Is it worth picking up for around $9?

They're pretty common. I wouldn't pick it up for $9.

A Link to the Past?
I suppose you mean The Adventure of Link??

Probably... it was definitely whatever the subtitle for Zelda 2 was, except it didn't actually say Zelda anywhere.

That cart is worth about twice what the regular gold zelda cart goes for.. and not much more.
Towards the end of the NES, Nintendo started releasing "classic collection" remakes of some of the best games (this can be distinguished by the red header on the actual box). Something similar to what Sony is doing now with the re-releases for the PSOne with the green side banners.
Zelda was one of them.. others included things like the yellow labelled metroid game.
Cheers.

Didn't know they were that rare...I've seen the gray ones occasionally, but I like my gold cart anyway. :)
I believe they did the same thing with the N64 Zelda games once they joined the "Gold Collection" -- which is sort of ironic, actually. :P

the gold n64 zelda's were "limited edition". majora's mask's limited version was gold with a hologram label and the non-limited one was gold with a normal label, no gray cart was made for it except the in-store demo.
