Today was the best day ever. First this morning I found FFII, FFIII, Secret of Mana and Breath of Fire for Snes for 3.50 each! Yes! Then later I stopped by another place and what do you know a weird blue PlayStation. I looked at it and checked the serial numbers thinking it'd be some USA-rft-0002 type thing and insted it said PS1 Debugging Station. It's kinda funny it was 40$ with 2 shit games cables but no controller. They had a regular PS1 with 4 games 2 controllers and cables for less. And I was asking them why this set didn't get a controller? Lol. Also I didn't know if it would work, but it does. Great I might add. It has some company lable on the back, from around here. Held on with tape. It's very clean with one little scuff. I'll try to put pics but it always says there too big, help?

Nice find! What sort of place did you find it at?

Just load your pictures to Imageshack or some similar website, then link to them in the post. That's what I always do (but I use flickr).

Cool! I guess you guys would like pictures or something. I'll try the flicker thing. Thanks. Is there anything I should be afraid of. Like showing the serial numbers or company name. I don't know it just seems people don't? Could someone say it is theres and take it from me or something weird. I post pics. tonight. Does anyone know about them. Theres bairly any info!

Thanks RASK1904:rockets:

Sony no longer in any way supports the original PlayStation stuff. At one time it could have gotten X development/publisher in trouble. Not anymore.

Congrats on the debugger. They've gotten harder to find again once the Acclaim ones worked their way out and into the market.

There is plenty of info... what do you want/need to know?

Also shimmying this to 'What's It Worth' since that forum deals in Finds as well.

Nice find there! :)

That's an awesome find. I'd love to get something like that in the wild.

I got my PAL PS1 debug unit from GAME (the UK version of Gamestop) for 20 GBP, it was sitting with a few other used normal PS1s in the used display section of their cabinet :p

The blue ones go for around $150 or so, now the green one's like I have go for around $250. Only real difference I can see is the green ones have s-video in the back.

*Adds congrats to the pile in front of his door.*

I'm trying to remember.. Where these units region free, or could they only play the region they were built for?

Mayhem

Region free, but I could never get mine to play burns, only original disks.

EA.

Oh, and I wish I could stumble on things like this...

Only the original launch Japanese debug units had S-Vid in them. The S-vid was out before they ever hit our shores for sale.

The real difference has nothing to do with S-Vid. The difference is internal. The green units handle a shade of red differently (correctly). The green unit was the final revision, but there were so many Blue units out at the time (and debuggers wern't cheap to buy) that devs and publishers didn't buy green units en-masse because the differences were neglible.

I'm not sure of going rates now, but about a year and a half ago blues were worth about 50 bucks because the market was so saturated. Greens were in the 100 range, again, due to saturation from the Acclaim auctions.

EA.

Oh, and I wish I could stumble on things like this...

Years ago I was outbid on one of these for alittle more than $100. It was an EA owned one, but it had an orange little plate on the front left side of the console that said "Property of Ea". Not a sticker but an actual metal plate about one inch wide. Oh how I regret losing that auction:(

My PAL PS1 debug (as mentioned above) has S-video, but that's because it's a Japanese conversion! I guess it must have been procurred very early in the life of the PS1 in general by some development company in the UK. And then flogged to a retail store by someone clearing out a cupboard :p

It just had the video board exchanged, the power supply requirement was still 110V. Well it was until a capacitor blew for some reason and I had it replaced with a UK 240V inside. When I bought it I did wonder what the S-video connection was all about until I did my research online...

It would need to be complete in order for me to bid, or atleast have a much lower starting price.

Good advice ... from what i have read in this thread, those consoles are not insanely rare, i'll try to get one at a lower price but gonna keep watching the auction :D

That whole Acclaim thing reminds me... Does anyone remember the Dreamcast Debuggers? Did those have anything different from regular consoles? Like the Sony debuggers being different colors. (Sorry off topic ^^;)

3. Don't march into a thread and state that you can get an item for $X elsewhere. If you think their price may be too high, don't be rude about it. If others feel the same way, then it won't sell. This is a hobby where each person gives an item a different monetary worth. While it's fine to look out for others, people should also do research into the item they are buying.

Thanx? You'll probably be kicking yourself next week too! Lol
