Finished Monster Jam for the 360 today. It's pretty easy and short but I enjoyed it. I wish that they would bring out a second one because they do have some good ideas in there. Also getting to crush cars as a monster truck is almost always fun.

Battletoads and Final Fantasy. Beat FF using the same character group that I did the last three times playing it. I'm going to start FF for the PSP sometime later, so I'll once again be using the same party since the Red Mage is a godly support unit thanks to the pool of MP system instead of the level based MP system. Next time I play the original, my Red Mages are going to be replaced with Black Mages.

I'm playing that game tomorrow night. :D I haven't played the Playstation version yet. I've only played the Neo Geo version.
I beat Samurai Shodown III for the playstation today in one sitting. 11 wins in a row. Lost to the final boss twice...then finally beat him the 3rd time. I'm just that damn good. Haha! :D

What do you mean finished? Do you mean 1 credit cleared both loops or did you just credit-feed through to the end of the first loop?

I'll quote myself from a few weeks ago...
Of course "beating" a SHMUP is kind of like beating a fighting game...which is to say I've just scratched the surface.

Ninja Gaiden 2. I'm going to get a run put on youtube of a playthrough once I get one that I've went through the last stage and finishing without looking terrible.
However, that's not going to be for awhile now. Since Crimson Echoes pre-98% beta was released, I'm going to play Chrono Trigger, Prophet's Guile, then Crimson Echoes.

9. Panzer Dragoon (Saturn) -- this was a month ago, but I forgot to post it here. Spectacular game... short, but just exceptional and spectacular. One of the all-time great soundtracks, amazing art design, innovative gameplay for its genre, and more... these games were one of the main reasons I got a Saturn a few months back, and it was well worth it.
10. Ninja Gaiden II - The Dark Sword of Chaos (NES) -- Oh yeah... now that was awesome. I didn't think I'd actually finish, I thought I'd give up right near the end like I did last week with the first game... but no, I stuck with it, and made it through! I got both of these last week for $4 each, and they were worth it as I knew they would be. I think this may be eaiser than the first one because of stuff like how it lets you continue from the second stage when you die at a boss in the last few levels instead of making you play the entire level over (and I don't know if anything here is quite as hard as Ninja Gaiden 1's level 6-2...), but still, it was tough for sure, so it was really satisfying to finish it. I've had my NES on for a couple of days now playing through this, now I can turn it off... :)
The last few bosses were really tough though, I did almost give up... but with some luck and some skill (and a few hints for the first one of the three), I got them. :)

Very solid platformer, the story wasn't the best, but I loved every minute of the gameplay. I can't believe I missed out on this series for so long, I don't have a Wii so I can't play the remake of the original, but I'm going to try to track down a copy of the PS1 version.

12. Maxi 15 - Menace Beach (NES)
Menace Beach, which is on the Maxi 15 cart I got last week ... Yes, aka Sunday Funday, the horribly hard platformer on a skateboard mentioned in the AVGN's Bible Games video for example. It's... frustrating. The controls are so, so slippery, and you die randomly so many ways... bounced back by spring blocks, hit by enemies or random shots while on a balloon, bumped into a pit, because THAT jump block secretly bounces you down into the pit instead of into the air, etc, etc. It's such an annoying game...
Still, it does some interesting things. You can pick up items, which is vital at some points (for carrying a bomb over to where you have to try to blow up a sumo guy with it, for example). Now blowing up sumo guys with bombs (the only way to kill them) is very hard and frustrating, as you need to toss it and then just hope that he's in its range when it goes off (likely he won't be and you need to go back and try again), but it's somewhat different at least...
Also, you have infinite continues from the beginning of the level, there are only 12 levels, and the first half of the game isn't that hard, apart from some frustration in level two. Level 9 is by far the hardest one; that one took a LOT of frustration to get past, that's for sure. From beginning to end, it's just so, so hard...
Once I finally managed to get past it, though, level 10 wasn't too bad, and 11 only had one tricky part (with a jump too long to jump and with no balloon; I eventually just figured to to the 'floating jump' you do when you repeatedly hit jump in the air (or turn on turbo and hold the jump button... :)), getting as far as possible before dying. This worked and there was a continue point on the next platform... kind of annoying, though, that you seem to have to die to get past that (unless there's something I missed, which quite possible). Oh well... at least the last level wasn't very long. The final boss was kind of tricky, those rocks kill you instantly, but it's short. The final boss is a bit of a pain, but once you figure out how to hit him (use the rocks...), I eventually beat him. It definitely took a lot of tries, though. This is one game that I'd never get anywhere near the end of without infinite continues, that's for sure!
Oh, in classic NES fashion, the ending wasn't particularly rewarding. Oh well, I wasn't exactly expecting much. At least there is an ending scene and not just "END" on the screen and that's it or something. :)

13. Children of Mana (DS) - Kind of boring game, which is why it took so long for me to get around to finishing it... I decided to finish it, for some reason. Simplistic yet confusing story, minimal touchscreen usage, mediocre, button-mashing gameplay... yeah, this was bland. Oh well. Good music at least...

31. Pokemon Platinum (DS)
32. Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (DS)
Interesting game, it was short (clocking in at just over eight and a half hours to beat), but it was pretty fun. I was glad that I was able to pick up a copy, this was a game that I had wanted to play on the PS1 but being able to play through the DS version is good enough for me. I just wish that NIS had left the extra content they added in the Japanese version to the US game, it would've been nice to be able to squeeze a little more playtime out of the title.

Thought this was going to be the first game I finished this year as I picked up this and Mirror's Edge just before the new year. However, having gone two-thirds of the way through the game I left it untouched until the other day when I finally finished it. I found it enjoyable but a lot lacking from number 4.
22. Call Of Duty: World At War - Xbox 360
Surprisingly it wasn't finishing CoD2 which made me buy this but the Modern Warfare 2 trailers. Anyway, it was fantastic, although a lot less serious than the two Infinity Ward games I've played. Still, full of amazing setpieces and I'm definitely up for another setpiece filled World War 2 shooter.

Yeah, I know. I stated this in my first post with them in. Since I am recording this primarily for my own benefit then I decided to list them separately. I decided that beating Retro Game Challenge as a whole is different than beating the individual games as you can beat Retro Game Challenge simply by cheating your way through the individual games, something I haven't done yet - in fact, the way the game is set up that seems the "correct" approach. Whereas it also presents the games separately and you can try and complete them without any aids. To that end, I add them to my list the same way I would add individual games from any other compilation.

Finished GTA: Chinatown Wars tonight. Based on the frequent nagging of Kotaku, I synced my statistics with the Rockstar website and found the two "Lions of Fo". I guess that "officially" means I've finished the game.
Fun game, but so annoying at times. I don't see me trying for 100%. It's the first GTA game that I don't plan on doing that. Decent for a DS game. Kind of shitty for a GTA game.

The first WiiWare game I paid money (not Nintendo stars) for and well, it was good, not as good as the reviews at the time made out. Lots of bugs on the final boss and an annoying bit before then (only annoying because I didn't know where to go). But the game is at its best when it lays out its Zelda-style puzzles for you. Short but an okay game.

#9 TMNT (360)
Simular to Prey in that you can't lose. I rented this one just for the easy 1,000 achivement points. The platforming parts were at times alot of fun, but your turtle can get a little flaky leading to many falls into bottomless pits. The Fighting parts were far too simple. Good for young gamers but otherwise an all around mediocre game at best.
