I've never seen this before, I'm not sure if this is electromechanical, mechanical, or what.

Any clue on this one? I might get one if someone can clarify what exactly it is.

I've never seen those particular games but I've had a couple dozen of those Tomy handheld wind-up games. They are about 3" x 5" and are completely mechanical. There are some larger ones that are battery powered. Also, there is no way those are from 1982, probably 1988-1992 or so. In Japan there are tons that were not sold in the US, probably hundreds.

Yeah, most sites say somewhere in the late 80's/early 90's.
I don't think it these ones ever were released in the US, it uses the European name for the Ninja Turtles.
Are these things fun to play?

Fun for a few minutes but not something with a lot of replay value. I think they're cool but I can't imagine spending much time playing them.

Hahaha oh man, you just put me in a nostalgic mood!
My parents got me the bottom one, Raphael's Sewer Bottom when I was tiny. Its a wind up/clockwork game where you move the Turtle to catch the falling trash cans and such.
Im guessing it must be a european release only too if you guys havent seen them!
As y-bot guessed, today, this is fun for a few minutes. However when I was younger, I seemed to play it over and over again!

TOMY made many types of small childrens' games like this. The most well-known I think are the ones of a miniature car dashboard. Really once the kid is 5 or 6 they would have outgrown the usefullness of it.

I had one of those. An excitebike style game. I loved it...spent alot of time playing it. If you hit another bike everything stopped and you'd get hung up on it. I'd love to see a pic of it!

Ah yes, Tomy pocket games. I really like these games because they can be really clever and they can provide a few minutes of entertainment. The "pocket arcade" ones in particular are really good. I remember taking Desert Race on a band trip a few years ago. It's really fun, but way too noisy.

Desert race plays exactly as Draven described. You "race" around an "endless" track which is actually a short track looped over and over again. If you hit something the entire game stops and you become "hung up" on a car or obstacle and the game won't continue until you hit the reset button. The entire game is mechanical, and instead of bikes it has dune buggies. (or some sort of desert car.)
Later, I upgraded to Digital Derby. It's much, much better. (But still quite noisy)

The date listed on that web site is 1982, but the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles originated in 1984! Hmmm...

Either the 1982 is a typo or Tomy took an existing game in their inventory that came out back in 1982 and gave it a Ninja Turtles facelift, without changing the basic concept. Thus it might still have the year 1982 on some of the packaging or the unit itself.
I actually own one of those Tomy games, Missile Strike aka: "Hit and Missile." I used to play that when I was 4 or 5, back in the early 80's.

I owned several of theses as a kid. I found about 5-6 of them in an old box of mine. Later, I ran into a bunch more at a flea market and picked them up. Here are a few pictures of most of my "collection". I remember getting these when we went on our yearly family vacation. Some were actually pretty fun.
