The official web site for Final Fantasy VII from Sony still works even though it was made in 1997. Kind of cool (and funny) to go back and look at the site.

Whoa, I never saw this site... I only remember the one on Square's page, with the world map and black background.

Seeing this now... Web design has changed a lot, not really for the better. I miss game sites like this.

The behind-the-scenes stuff here is definitely worth watching, neat stuff.

The "Strategy" sections for disc 2 and disc 3 still say "coming soon!" Yeah, right.

This is funny because I just got this game again a few weeks ago, and I've been playing it for the first time in about 11 years. Pretty cool to see this! This page probably would have taken 10 minutes to load on my 486 with dial-up back then.

Hahaha. That's incredible. Why is that site still there?

You know, it really depresses me seeing how old this game is. I got into RPGs and video games when I was extremely young, and I actually was able to beat this game before I was 10 years old. The only thing though, was that I didn't completely understand the storyline as well as I do now. Back then, I didn't realize how breath taking it was. I beat it again two years ago, and it really hit me.

awesome.. thanks for the link. definitely brought back memories, i am surprised how packed the website is and how the internet has aged (i have to say that for the better hehe). those quicktime movies mustve been awe-inspiring back then. i wish the still were in higher res.

thanks again for the link.

Wow thats awesome. I never saw the site back then. I didn't even know about RPGs until I played FF7 in 1998 or 99 after my friend introduced it to me. At the time he had already "mastered" the game spending countless hours in the Sunken Gelnika morphing enemies into sources and getting all of his characters stats to 255. He was absolutely ridiculous. He literally did everything there was to do. Funny thing is to this day he has yet to get Yuffie's stats maxed and get all of her limit breaks.

That site is pretty good for a 1997 web design. Unless they have gone back and tweaked some things I'm impressed by the way it loads as well as the resolution it is made for. Looks like it would've been very expensive (only I'm sure Square did it in house).

Here's the old official (http://web.archive.org/web/19991112095642/www.squaresoft.com/web/games/ff7/index.html)web site. Not as detailed, but still neat to see. I don't believe this one is still up on their official server.

I also didn't fully appreciate the story. I think I played this game during the 2 weeks of my Christmas break junior year of high school. I didn't have internet then so I never saw this site. But back then I didn't pay nearly as much attention to detail so I missed a lot. Now, years later, I can really enjoy how deep this game is. Their page doesn't do it justice! :hail:

Wow, now that is a blast from the past...

I love FFVII, it may be overrated to alot of people. But the game itself is incredible, and it brings back alot of memories from my childhood. The mid '90s were a great time for gaming. I remember back around when FFVII released, playing TM2(PS1) and the great Goldeneye(N64). Fun times. :)

...and the great Goldeneye(N64). Fun times. :)

I remember the day I bought FFVII--I had a choice to make; Goldeneye or FFVII. I could only afford one.

Interestingly, I just watched the Classic Game Room review of Goldeneye and the game still looks and sounds fantastic! Way better than what I expected. No PS1 game could have topped that, I think. And it has interesting gameplay beyond just shooting. But it'll never be reissued. How sad.
