I just picked up a Namco GunCon and now I need some games to use with it. Any suggestions? I was looking through my back issues of EGM and they seemed to recommend Point Blank and Elemental Gearbolt so I'm putting those on my search list...are there any others you might recommend? Yes, it's hard to imagine that I've had a PSX for over 7 years without owning a lightgun...

The Point Blank series is great fun...even better with friends!!

I really like a little game called Gunfighter. Thanks to Snider-man giving my friend a copy at Cinciclassic last year, and with him using my Guncon to play it, I had to go buy a copy yesterday :) . It's a western themed game, compatible w/ Guncon. Graphics aren't great, and it is pretty short. But at EB right now, it's only $8, so you can't go wrong with it.

Am I the only one who thought Elemental Gearbolt sucked?!? Ugh, I wouldn't recommend it.

I do remember Gunfighter being mentioned earlier...and I like westerns, too, but I didn't think about getting it earlier because I didn't have a lightgun then. So now I'll have to look for it and there is indeed an EB in my area. I'm checking around and IGN mentions Time Crisis though the 2nd TC for the PS doesn't seem to have great graphics...

I LOVED Elemental Gearbolt...one of my favorite gun games. I also highly recommend the Point Blank series and Time Crisis. Great stuff there. Too bad there aren't more gun games... *sniff*

Ninja Assault for the PS2 isn't terrible.

I'll add my reccomendation for Point Blank 1 as well. It's the only gun game I own for the psx.

I think you are, actually. Heh. I can't remember a single negative review of EG, which came out near the start of my three-year WD stint. It also has a wonderful orchestral soundtrack that should've won awards. There was some talk of an RPG based in the Gearbolt world, but it unfortunately never happened.

I'm also going to have to second (forth or fifth by this point) Elemental Gearbolt

Point Blank rocks too

The only thing you get into with the light gun games, is that half the titles worked with the guncon and half didn't.

Point blank is crazy awesome... best lightgun games ever. They're going to make the Digitpress top 100.

So is there a source that lists which games work with which guns? I'd hate to buy a game and then find out I can't play it...

I wouldn't worry too much about that. you should be able to grab a Konami Blaster fairly easily. I see them at Gamestop & EB games quite often. Pretty cheap too, about $8-$10 bucks. With Elemental Gearbolt you can use either one.

The good games seem to be for GUncon though. Judge Dredd & Project Horned Owl work with the other gun and aren't very good. I really liked Die-Hard Trilogy though, it would be worth getting the KOnami gun to play the gun segment of that game. There's another one called Crypt Killer that I'd like to get. Haven't played that one.

The original Guncon will work with a few of the PS2 gun games too. VAmpire Night and Time Crisis 3 I believe.

I also agree with all the recommendations so far. the Point Blanks are a blast, Gunfighter is a great cheapy. Gearbolt is probably the toughest but very good too.

oh forgot one, Area 51. not sure which gun that uses.

I liked Elemental Gearbolt, I thought it was too hard though... Crypt Killer doesn't have very good graphics, but I like it anyways (Feels like a Castlevania shooting game. Quick trivia: The import, Henry Explorers was the very first import I ever played!).

One game I wish had light gun support is Revolution X. I know IGN gave it a 1.0, but maybe it would have got better reviews if you could use the light gun?

The one shooting game I can't recommend is Project: Horned Owl.

area 51 uses just a regular gun, not a guncon.

You need to get 8 guncons and play point blank 1 and 2

I won't get it because it's a PS2 title but the new Game Informer reviews the new PS2 Resident Evil shooter which uses the GunCon 2. They didn't like it, giving it a 6...

I liked Dead Aim a lot, but its fatal flaw is that it's WAAAAY too short, with no replay incentive that I'm aware of. It's fascinating to play a traditional RE adventure with a light-gun, though.

So far, I'd say yeah! :P

I think Elemental Gearbolt was the best thing WD released (and I don't mean that as a knock, WD released some good stuff, I'm saying that as a testiment to how good EG is.) Graphically, it's a little long in the tooth, think Doom, but it's the most unique light gun game I've ever played and one of my favorite game soundtracks ever. The only beef I have is it's hard as nails! I never did beat it, and I logged a lot of hours on it.

I wish there would be another gun game like EG. It's just so diffferent than the typical arcade shooter (not that those are bad, I'll always love my Sega gun games!)

And I seem to be the only person who didn't think Horned Owl was THAT bad. It can't hold EG's empty bullet casings, but well worth a purchase for $5 or less. No Guncon support tho, ack!
