The current number of games I own past to present is 1725. 55 Total consoles (35 different). Just counted again for the first time in quite a while. Luckily it gets easier since There aren't THAT many games I'm missing any more for what I'm collecting.

Which brings me to part 2. What do you collect for? I know some people have weird exclusions. Like me, I don't collect CD games, but I do collect TG, Jaguar, and Sega CD games, but I don't collect N64 games.

I currently collect for:
Everything through 16-bit. Only 2-3 pong systems total. I collect the systems and carts for Odyssey through Jaguar. Not currently collecting Saturn games, but I'm considering it. Which would make the Saturn the most gurrent gen Console that I collect for.

Handhelds, I'm collecting everything except Gameboy in all of it's incarnations. Gameboy just has too many damn games, and I won't delude myself into even considering collecting for them. I have a total of 20-30 Gameboy games (original through advance).

Right now I'm just working on getting all the RPG's I want for PSX. Quite an undertaking I know, but they'll get the most play and will be the most worthwhile purchases for me. I've got a list a whopping 30 long right now, I just have no money to go get any of it.

Congrats on 1725, holy crap. On a side note to accomplishments, I just beat Eternal Darkness! LOL

I try to collect a little bit for all consoles that I own (only 15 different systems, 35 DAMN), but I don't really collect much for my VCS, N64 (still too damn pricey), GBA or Jaguar. Too hard to find, too expensive, and too... inconsistant with the great titles I want.

I'm really trying my best right now to get as many of the PS-X late-release titles as I can. Games for 10 bucks? Sign me up!

I collect almost everything I can get my hands on. I do usually set limits however. I try to pay $1 to $2 max for most games. I'll pass on uncommon atari to nes games in the 4 to 6 dollar range unless I haven't picked up any in a while.

I want to finish my dreamcast collection (most modern) and I think it's acheivable. I have about 50 so far... so thats only another 200 ish for north american games.

The only system I haven't bought for (Even when I had the chance) is Saturn, so I guess that's my only exclusion. And I have no real desire other than a passing interest in the mario titles to collect for CD-I.

Woah. Nice.

Like you sylentwulf, I'm trying to stay clear of CD games, yet I have about 5 Jaguar CD games, but I don't make an effort to collect them. However I do collect for the N64, which I highly suggest you do in the future, because there is alot of gaming goodness on the last cartridge Console. Shameless plug for the N64, sorry had to do it.

I actually prefer my 2600 games to be loose, because if I had the boxes for all my 2600 games, it would look really cool, but I would have to fit in a whole extra bookcase to display them, and in my apartment thats not the best option right now, so I go for loose, but I won't pass up a good deal on a complete 2600 game.

I also don't really go beyond the 2600 in terms of age, such as I don't own any Pong systems, or Odyssey. But if I see one dirt cheap at a garage sale, I'll be sure to grab it, its always good trade bait if anything. I didn't start playing games til the early 80's, so 2600 is pretty much where I draw the line. I collect for alot of the cartridge consoles after the 2600 though, or I have in the past(colecovision). I'm almost to 500 games, I'm guessing, I'm gonna count sometime soon.

I collect everything video game related I can get my hands on..
A good part of my system collection is made up of pong systems..
I'll buy a game even if I don't have the system for it yet..

I seriously have lost my mind with the spending I do on video game stuff.
But I enjoy it so much..and I don't think I will ever stop..

My latest acquisition..

I collect everything from 8-Bit to current myself. I don't have a problem with CDs, and my current focuses are Genesis/Mega Drive, TG16/PCE, and Saturn. Good stuff :) Mostly buying shooters right now. I think I'm at about 16 or 17 systems and a bit over 500 games, but I ONLY collect the games I think I'll play, I don't collect EVERYTHING for a system, and I have limited tastes.

I'm currently getting my hands on as many systems as possible first and then deciding from there where to go. I think I will most likely get complete of one of the 16-bit systems first, possibly the Duo or Genesis/CD because those were my 'golden' years of gaming. I remember nearly being brought to tears by Phantasy Star IV, and running a lap around my block (big deal for a fat kid) when I finally FINALLY beat Starflight. However, I flat out LOVED my TG-16 back in the day, and played the original Bomberman for the system over and over...

I need more cash. *sigh*

I've been selling some stuff off recently, so I don't know how many games I have, probably somewhere around 300, I only get the games I wanna play almost always complete. Been thinking about selling off some of the Genny collection, probably won't . My NES and DC collection's are right where I want them, I still probably need a few games for each system, but I have most of the games complete for those. Been collecting lots of Neo Geo stuff recently, both MVS and homecart. I'm actually thinking about buying a Ninja Masters homecart somewhere down the road, so I can have every weapons fighter for the Neo on Japanese homecart.

I will only collect Cart/Card based games because of two reasons. One, I hate load times, and two, I just think cd's are too fragile and I don't want to keep worrying about scratches. As for how many games I own, I don't know...I havent counted everything just yet :) Definitely not even 1/3 of the number you have tho!

By the way it is funny you mentioned bomberman. My TG16 gets use every day. My girlfriend is addicted to that game. She even plays it on her lunch break which only consists of one hour before she has to be back at work. And considering it takes her 20mins to get home and 20 mins to get back to work, she is now cutting into her actual eating time. I must stop this! :)

I collect CD games for numerous systems but mostly PSX. I'll sit through a load time which isnt that big of a deal. Gives me time to sip on some gin and juice and get laid back. A lot of the PSX games are rather fun and can be had for pretty cheap nowdays. Not like SNES or N64 which still go for a bundle. And CD games you usually always get the case and manual. Not like the Genesis games in my area which are nearly all box less and same with any other cart system.

Another one of my favorite things to collect which I gather not many here do is old DOS games. Only with the box, floppy's and manuals. The old RPGs are fun to find also because you get fun stuff like rocks and cloth maps. And the box's for those games have some nice artwork since they are so fricken huge. Bad thing is the size. Ive only got maybe 100 of them and they take up space. Lots of it.

I collect NES and everything newer. I don't collect for PC, although I do own several games for it. Although someday down the line I can see myself trying to complete a collection, I am, right now, a poor college student. Currently, I collect only the games I want to play, and pretty much only my favorites. I don't collect sports games at all, with a few notable exceptions (i.e. NBA Jam). The last game I bought for more than $10 was Wind Waker on launch day, so I obviously don't have alot of money to spend on games. Currently, I'm focusing on NES and SNES. I'd like to be focusing on Saturn, but nowhere around here sells Saturn stuff, and I don't have the money to buy games piecemale on EBay. This summer I plan to hit the mad garage sales. I'll be looking for a Sega CD (which I don't have yet), and anything I can buy to sell on ebay.

Dare I ask, is it Original Bomberman or Bomberman '93? I love the original but '93 is godly. If she's playing the original you may want to a) avoid telling her there's '93 or b) if you have a copy, hide it now. Soon she won't be working at all! :D

I mainly collect for the NES, but I do pick up games for the Atari 2600, SMS, and any cheap cart based games when I see them. I have a little over 200 NES games, cart only, I have 1 complete NES game, Rad Racer. I have 20 systems, with about 11 are unique. Overall I think I have somewhere around 300 different games. I only collect carts mainly because there are no CD based games around here other then the PS, and I don't want to be paying that much for games & I don't like the PS that much. I would like to start collecting for the Sega CD, & Virtual boy but I have only seen 1 Virtual boy game ever & never seen a Sega CD game before. (I'm refering to used games, not new in the stores).

In order of priority, I collect (all PAL/Euro):

1)Master System (150ish games)
2)Megadrive/MegaCD/32X (150ish)
3)Dreamcast (60ish)
4)Gamegear (15ish)
5)Saturn (30ish)

I'll pick up any non-Sega stuff if it's cheap, or something I actually want to play, but there's nothing else I'd attempt a complete set of.

I collect for eveything carts and CDs for every system from atari to xbox.

I dont focus on any particular sytem or games, but just pick up what ever I come accross at a decent price. If I concentrate on anything thing it is import games and systems because I just dont find these things in the wild.

I dont collect games on floppy disc for old computers, but I do have hundreds of games on floppy for my C64 (I dont count these as part of my collection).

I currently have 52 systems (40 different ones) and 2018 games. :-D

I collect just about everything. The only things I don't think I'll ever collect are Game Gear, PC, japanese famicom and mega drive games. I have games for 38 different systems (not including C64 disks and imports for my US systems). I'd like to at least get one game for every system ever released one day (Minus the ones I don't collect for).

My first priority is to complete my Sega CD collection and getting all the games I love to play, which I don't seem to own anymore (ie Secret of Mana). Next up is buying games at insane prices at my local Hastings (5.99 PS2 and GC games? Give me!) Lately though, they've been pricing them higher than usual...

I currently own 2000+ different games on 30+ systems. My favorites are the NES(650 carts), Atari XEGS, and the Bally Astrocade. I like collecting the wierd, and cart formats. I dont have to think as much about it working when I go to a flea mart or Goodwill store. I love to play Genesis, TG-16, 2600, 7800, and Sega Dreamcast. My most current system(although I own all three) I like to play is the Cube. I dont see myself collecting entire collections, unless it is attainable. I currently have completed 1 system(32X) and am 2/3s the way to Sega CD and 7800. I have noticed as of late the value of things in box skyrocketing in value. That is good because most of my SNES stuff is in box!!!!

PS. favorite game of all time........ROBOTRON 2084 for the 7800

I collect for most anything post-NES (NES included). I do enjoy picking up a few 2600 games every now and then, however. I wasn't really into gaming beyond consoles until I got my own PC about 6 years ago. I usually buy games if they're tough to find or are inexpensive. Personal enjoyment is also a factor. I'd enjoy a complete NES collection, though...

I'm fast approaching 1200 games across 20 platforms, plus some PC titles. I've got an Odyssey pong machine as well.

See below for a link to my stuff if you're interested in seeing what I have. Also. you can see my gaming room in the DP "Room of Doom" gallery.

Any Sega stuff. Mostly Genesis, 32x, Sega CD. I want to get all of the US released games by Sega.

I recently changed my mind. It was everything and anything, but after realizing I really don't have the room for everything, I've been selling a lot of stuff off. I'm concentrating of stuff I'm actually going to play now, with an eye towards shmups, as always. I'm more into PCBs and Neo Geo MVS than home console stuff. Once you've had a taste of the real deal, it's hard to go back to ports.

I'm a few shy of 900 games with around 23 different systems. Part of me wants to cut back and play the games I have, but I'd still like to get a near complete NTSC Atari 2600 collection together someday.

I have my NES and SNES collections about where I want them with the games I want to play.

I have been picking up PSX and Saturn games lately. It would be fun to try for a near complete US Saturn collection. N64 and TG-16 would be fun to collect as well...

But, in general if it's crap and it's NOT for the Atari 2600 I (try to) avoid it...

Cheers,
Ben
