Good source for Saturn batteries?

I just started playing the Saturn again after getting my console modded recently (thanks Bratwurst). I never really played the Saturn much before but now I'm loving the games and find myself playing it a lot more.

Now I want to invest in some batteries because I don't think I've ever played a Saturn without having to enter the time/date at the start-up screen and it's driving me nuts. Anyone know of a good source for some cheap Saturn batteries?

Also, how long do the batteries usually last? Would it be a good idea to get several or will one last me a long time?

Anywhere has 'em. Go to your supermarket/convenience store/wherever, check the battery section, and snag some CR2032s. They're dirt common. I've had them last about 2yr on me, but I also moved around a bunch and didn't always have my systems connected (which is the only time the battery drains, IIRC).

It's a standard CR2032 battery. You can find them at any store that has a decent battery selection. For the most part, they last reasonably long, too. I can't imagine having to replace it more than once a year and even that would be a short amount of time.

EDIT: ^What he said. Though the battery will drain even if the console is unplugged. There's always going to be drain but, again, you normally won't have to replace the battery any more often than you would in a remote control.

Assuming you don't boycott the store, the best place to get CR2032 batteries is Walmart.

The worst place is Radio Shack because they charge an arm and a leg.

I've had good luck at Staples. Can usually find a 2-pack that's a better deal than a single at other stores.

Yea, I worded it a bit crappy, but I was under the impression that the drain was mainly when the system was unplugged and that when it was connected the drain was pretty darn minimal.

I usually get about 2 years out my CR2032's in my Saturns.

Changing the batteries also won't immediately erase your save data, as long as you do it within 60 seconds.

I have had a Saturn battery last over 3 years! I usually pick them up at Target.

I don't know how long they will last, but I do know that most, if not all of the Saturn's that I have (I think I have 3), have dead batteries. I have never had a problem with my original NES or SNES cartridges or any other system batteries, but for some reason the Saturn is the one I have issues with.

Ahhh, I didn't realize Saturn batteries were that easily available. Guess I'll just pick some up next time I'm at Target or wherever.

Now that I've got that taken care of, how about Saturn AV cables? I've got a nice s-video cable for my Saturn, but my new Sony receiver doesn't have s-vid inputs for some reason. Anyone know of a online source for decent, cheap Saturn composite cables?

Craft stores... seriously. I bought a bunch of 5 pack blisters for $1 each. $.20 a battery, beat that! LOL

Yeah, I could use a set of cables too. s-vid and composite would be nice.

Thats the thing, their not specifically saturn batteries. They are still used in computer motherboards and pretty much any other thing that is recharged. There more like bios batteries or data batteries. I think the dreamcast has the same ones in there too.

The rechargeable battery in the Dreamcast is a Sanyo ML2430 VS1 (3v 90mah)

Saturn battery is a CR2032 (3v 200mah)

I wouldn't ... the dreamcast charges its battery and you could cause the cr2032 to explode unless you modified a connection plate.

I'd also recommend buying a 1st or 3rd party Saturn backup memory cart. It would suck to put a bunch of hours in on games like Lunar or something to just have the save get erased while trying to switch batteries.

I have had CR2032 batteries last upwards of 5 years. I always use Energizers. Get em at CVS or equivalent.

Yeah, no kidding. I bought some generic dollar store AA's once for my TV remote and they were dead in 2 weeks.

Why would you want to use a battery(CR2032) that should not be recharged in a system(dreamcast) that by default tries to recharge its battery? It is single use and will burst/leak in a dreamcast eventually. 2032's (non CR) with rechargeable on the packaging is possible to be used; I did mention a new connection plate/coin holder.

Have fun fitting a rechargeable car battery in a dreamcast :smash: Let me hook up the car battery and you can be the ground LOL
