Greetings and Congratulations!

This letter is to notify you that you've been chosen as a confirmed Beta
Tester to test PlayOnline(TM), FINAL FANTASY(R)XI and Tetra Master(TM) on
the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system. The Public Beta Test will
begin in June. A Beta Test kit including the Internal Hard Disk Drive (40GB)
(for PlayStation(R)2) will be mailed to the address you've provided in the
coming weeks with detailed instructions.

Sweet! Needless to say I'm geeked. I've never been a beta tester before so this is all new to me (although I do alot of application testing at work). Looks like PSO will have to wait! :)

Anyone else sign up for this?

I signed up for the PC beta, but I haven't recieved anything. Guess I didn't get in :(

I am in the Frozen Throne Beta right now, but I don't even care. I played a couple games and realized... hey, it's beta, the game isn't finished and often times isn't going to be fun.

I signed up but didn't get a confirmation yet. I was however a beta tester for Windows 98 back in the day...wooppeee!

And I forgot to add I did beta test the Windows 2000 AOL software. yay.

As far as I'm concerned, the best thing about this is you're getting a free PS2 harddrive out of the deal. O_O

Congrads Tempest. I'm happy for you :)

Spiffy, so the king of the proto-type is getting a new one for his collection. I hope you get to keep it.

I can't wait to hear what you think of it as quite frankly I've been completely eaten up by what this game could possibly be. I'll admit, I'm a squaresoft whore. I was pissed off at Kingdom Hearts because I hate Disney like the black plague.

...I bought it last november. It's Square.

So, I realize you'll probably have a non-dislosure agreement with it but if you can, you know, stomp once for good and twice for bad, I'd be listening for it ;)

I didn't get chose, but I know that you do have to send the HDD and everything they send you back, after the beta is done, they will email or somehow get him a sheet to sign, legally saying he will return the items to Squaresoft. On a side note, YOU LUCKY BASTARD!!!!111

Answer to this problem: a pack of Gnus or a runaway train hit the shed off your garage where you kept the PS2, and as a result you lost the game.

If you have a good deal of money, you might be able to pay their fine :)

I just received a mail that I'm in the PS2 beta test as well. They actually are giving a free Disk Drive though, but not the one used in the test. From the E-Mail I received:

"The HDD shipped for use in the public beta test for PlayOnline, FINAL
FANTASY XI and Tetra Master is only compatible for use with the PlayOnline,
FINAL FANTASY XI and Tetra Master beta test software. Use or attempted use
with any other software or use outside of the beta test may harm or
interfere with the operation of your PlayStation(R)2 system or other
devices.

Upon conclusion of the Beta Test, Sony Computer Entertainment America
requires you to return the beta test HDD in the original beta kit box using
the return-shipping label enclosed in your kit.

Once Sony Computer Entertainment America receives the beta test HDD unit and
in appreciation for your participation in the Beta Test, SCEA will send you
a new consumer HDD unit, free of charge."

So you get the HDD, but not the games? OK, what the fuck? How much does that thing cost? Because if I didn't get the games for free, I would tell them to go fuck themselves. Even if it costs $100, it doesn't seem worth it... doing their job for them.

I don't know if we get to keep the game or not (or if we will get a free version of the final game). The E-Mail didn't mention anything about returning the game, just the Beta Disk Drive. I guess we'll just have to wait until the beta test kits come to know..

ehh.. I hear the game sucks anyway..

Just STIFF their fucking asses... don't send back shit, and it will be worth a fortune one day. I wouldn't even consider that stealing... you're doing their work for them, and they pay you a pitance in return.

And if you get to keep a prototype version of the game, I'll pay cash for it. That sucker has future holy grail writen all over it.

99% of beta tests dont give you anything other than the joy of playing the game before release.
