i have had a new monitor that dosn't have intergraded audio and the speakers don't fit the 360. they plug into the pc. do i need an adapter of some sort? or different speakers? I have a 360 vga adapter but that dosen't solve the problem. the only option is to plug the speaker plug into the pc. ???

any help would be appreciated :)

You could use an RCA to 1/8 (minijack) converter. It would need to be female to female.

You'd probably need something like this:

You can find one HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5mm-Stereo-Male-Jack-to-2x-RCA-Female-Audio-Adapter_W0QQitemZ200267172204QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPC A_Cables_Adapters?hash=item200267172204&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50). But I'd check your local Radio Shack first.

You'd need female to female, like ProgrammingAce said. And what about amplification, can a 360 alone drive a set of speakers?

I think you should go to a thrift shop and look for a stereo receiver and a set of speakers and use that. (if you don't have an old stereo laying around) You would need the adapter Damaramu mentioned.

The official 360 VGA cables comes with one of those, the OP should have one if he didn't get some third party ones.

I had to make my own female-to-female adapter. Just got 2 headphone extenders and spliced them together. Works great with that included adapter mentioned above.

Just make sure you have a volume control on the speakers.

PC Speakers are generally self-powered (you usually have to plug them in, and they have their own volume). Make sure the 1/8" is STEREO and NOT MONO. I know some of the male 1/8" adapters tend to be MONO for some reason. If you walk into radioshack they should have what you need for ~$5.
