I had assumed most people who followed Phantasy Star IV's development in 1992 and 1993 had read this article because it was in EGM. Then I realized, this article is actually somewhat obscure. Many people actually haven't read it at all. So now, both parts are together for the first time on the internet.

Thanks for posting this, I haven't seen it before. I've only become interested in the Phantasy Star games fairly recently, I'm still keeping an eye out for copies of the games.

Appears to be not merely concept artwork but actual Genesis game cinema screenshots, which were not in the final game.

I find it interesting that Rika/Fal had not only her name but her entire battle role changed, if this preview is accurate. She's described as a weak fighter and a strong magic user here, but in the final game she's a fairly powerful attacker.
