I can't figure this out. When I play some games, I can't find anyone to play with on the DS Wi-Fi connection. For example, Space Invaders Extreme. Most of the time, I can't find a soul out there even when I am playing on the weekends at reasonable times. Secondly, I NEVER find anyone from another country, it always comes up as "USA" for their region. There are times when there will just be like one other player available to play on Wi-Fi.
Nintendo boasts "battle against anyone worldwide", so what gives? Is my DS just connecting to local servers or something?

Not sure about it either but I've given up on playing others. I tried last year for about 3 months to find other people who played Pokemon:Diamond or Pearl and best I could do was find people who had the game and played among themselves. Never could get anyone to play or trade with even among 4 different gaming boards. Some people have no problems with some games though. Club House for instance almost always has someone playing it.

I played some Tetris DS the other day online. I didnt have much trouble finding anyone to play against in versus 2 player mode.

It's been a long time since I tried, but Mario Kart DS had people online still over 2 years after initial release.
I think it just depends on the popularity and quality of the game. My friend reports he's never been able to find anyone to play Metroid Prime:Hunters with, for example.
The same thing happens on X-box live. I've had Mr. Driller online for a year, and I check for other players every time I play it, and I've only found somebody once. However, I look in the leaderboard and I'm in the top 1,000...not because I'm any good, though. It's just because nobody bought it.

I always find people online in Tetris DS, Mario Kart and Metroid Prime ...
... of course the people who play Metroid Prime are usually so good that I can't score a single kill.

XBLA Doom is similar, sometimes there are a few guys online but other days it's a ghost town online.
Never had too much trouble finding DS players, even with less popular titles (Mortal Kombat, Dragon Quest Monsters). Actually, when I was playing that Pokemon game there was nobody online.
