WOW - I nearly creamed myself when I saw this on the DP home page this morning!!
I live less than 10 minutes away from the hotel that this expo is going to be located at, and am obviously going.
My reason for this post, and I'm sure that it may get moved - but what the hell, is to find out if anyone else is going?
It would be great to meet some of you, and I obviously know my way around this kick ass town, so...(as he makes the 'drinky-drinky' motion) it could be a great time.
Anyway, if you are going, or think that you might go, that would be very cool!
Take care,
Steve

I would love to go and meet all of the Texans who haven't made it out to Classic Gaming Expo or PhillyClassic!
If I weren't an organizer I could probably swing BOTH events but I have to be out in Vegas really early for the pre-expo stuff. I might try to daisy-chain the trip and do both but it's gonna be a tough one. Then again, if Scott and I could manage to drive a Uhaul from NYC to Vegas like we did last year, this shouldn't be such a logistic nightmare. We shall see!

I may try to go, but it's a bit close to Vegas time-wise. I have a brother in Austin who could probably put me up for the weekend, but it's more of a "money for the trip" kinda thing (and this pretty much scratches my plan to pick up some of the AA exclusives at CGE - not that I can't turn around and redirect said still-theoretical money toward other folks' exclusives!). I've thrown more money at going to Vegas, so CGE is still a priority for me.
The Als have said they're going to try to space it out further from CGE next year, so I may wait to see if AGE gets to year 2 and give it a try then. Problem is, July is a ratings month - I can't take time off in July, May, February or November. If AGE is in June next year, I could swing that, and I think a lot more people could as well.
I'm also planning on hauling a lot of stuff to OKGE in September, so that also plays a factor. (Hopefully the folks attending AGE because it's closer will also remember that OKGE won't be too far from them either.) So I'm not sure I can do the "triple crown" this year. :/

Cool replies so far. I honestly think that the Als will move it further away from CGE for next year.
For me, Philly is difficult, but I plan to go to CGE in Vegas in August.
Since the Austin expo is literally down the street from me, the only cost is purchase related.
Austin's a great place if you have never been here - lot's of fun!
If anyone needs info, let me know.

8-)
Just to let you guys know. AtariAge will not be present at this years CGE show in Vegas. If you want some of their exclusives...then attending the AGE show in Austin may be the only way short of ordering online from them later. I am still trying to see about getting them or one of them to attend OKGE and have some stuff with them to sell.
But given the effort they have to put forth for this Austin show...I am not holding my breath. Perhaps next year...

I'm definitely interested as it's only about two hours away from me in Houston. My sister lives there so I don't have to worry about lodging. I'm already going up there next weekend to hang out and look at the possibility of relocating.

Yeah, that's unfortunate about the Atari Age booth not going to be there at CGE, but what can you do.
Fortunately, since they are out of Austin, and are having the gig here, I can pick up exclusives for whomever wants them (and can't attend the show.) :)

I'll definitely be attending, but since I'm one of the organizers, that's a given! :-D We're truly sorry that we weren't able to space the time out from any of the other shows. We were running a tight schedule with getting something set up for this year as it was, and none of us could really pick a better time to place the date of the show. But I think this will be a fantastic show!

Boy I know that feeling. when I strated to plan out VGS (at the time it was just going be bunch of us playing games) It was changing from one month to another first febuary, then I said lets try for march and then we went for July. we almost did it in march if the darn hotel didn't want major bucks for it.
thats when I was going to throw in the towel ,but inky wanted to keep trying so we figured try something else and we got it for 400 plus tax and tip.

Sounds like a great show, wish I could go. At least there are more shows getting slowly closer and closer to the West Coast. Now if only a show came to San Francisco or Sac-town...
Hope you guys have a lot of fun in Austin!

I just saw the site and saw that the Video Game Bible guys will be going. Will they still go to CGE, does anybody know? It'd be great to see them again along with you guys in Vegas.

I haven't heard anything from the Video Game Bible gang yet, I hope they come back this year too. Have they put out their new book yet? This would be a good venue for them for sure if they have.

I don't think so, but then again maybe they have, since they haven't updated their site for so long. I think they said that they'd be done with and selling both the handheld and the Japanese console Bibles at this year's CGE. Maybe they'll have them done and for sale in Austin.
I'll be there demoing off protos since I probably won't be at CGE this year.

Probably? On Atari Age, you said you will most likely never attend another CGE.
Really hate to hear you won't join us anymore Matt, but at least we don't have to worry about you stalking/scaring off our alumni guests anymore. :)
Make sure you make it to Sean's party this year or I might never see you again. :(

I always appreciate extra publicity. However, you may have mis-interpreted one of the rules. First to 10 to win by 2 means the winner has to get to 10, by 2 or more. Though you start winning things if you can get 5, which is half of a standard match.
I just noticed the new update at the gaming expo forums, and i have emailed them to make the correction, i didnt realize they had gone off and posted more

Hey sorry about that!!! :D I got the info from the site and didn't know it was not the right stuff.
Regardless, the contest is a fantastic idea and I will be very excited to see how it turns out! :D I will try my hand at the game but I am no good. You can laugh at my expense. :) :P

I'll go next year, but this year all $4000 of my game savings is going to Vegas.
