Any rumors or confirmations on the Las Vegas Classic Gaming Expo for 2009? Or should I assume that no Xmas raffles for free attendance means no CGE2K9? I probably have the time period for the CGE raffles incorrect. In any case CGE planning info would be welcome.

July/August is a short period of time from now.

Not to be contrary for the sake of being contrary, but I don't ever recall a Christmas raffle to go to the next Expo (and believe me, I've had CGE on the brain lately). They've had raffles closer to the show, sure. Just sayin'.

Still, I'm looking forward to the next CGE, whenever or wherever it is, with relish. And maybe a bit of mayo.

Agreed. I need to start planning now if there is going to be a show. I need to know if I should concentrate on getting a booth at PAX or not. Hopefully the powers that be are reading this and won't schedule it near any of these dates.

Seattle Arcade & Pinball Expo June 12-14
Penny Arcade Expo September 4-6
Portland Retro Gaming Expo September 20

I cant go this year :(, but hope the show will be happening. I am focusing all my attention to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo, but wish the best of luck to all involved with CKE2K9.
There is alot of organizing that goes into a show that people DONT see, but it would be good to see an offical date soon if it is going to happen. People have to plan vacations and schedule early for these things.

San Diego Comic-Con is July 23-26, so it would be nice to avoid that date as well.

My wife wants to go to Vegas for our 15th wedding anniversary, so it would be nice if the con were in June. ;)

That's why we missed it in 2007, Kris and I went to CGE. Obviously no need to choose in 2006 and last year. And yeah, make it the first weekend of August so I can try to do both :p

I know I have my fingers crossed. I would love to be an exhibitor at CGE 09'. Only time will tell.

I've already started saving up so I can make it this year, the only perk last year saving up this early was that it helped me afford my trip to the Tokyo Game Show instead. PLEASE tell me there's a reason to head to Vegas, it's been too long already!

There will not be a Classic Gaming Expo this year.

This is the "unofficial" announcement, so as not to leave you guys hanging. We'll have this explained on the site very soon.

Yes, thanks Joe for letting us know. Sad news, I was hoping I wouldn't miss another year... I'll have to save up for one of the other events I maybe normally wouldn't attend, just so I'm not missing out on my classic gaming in large groups fix. :( :( :(

With the way the economy is, its probably a good idea for CGE not to have another show for this year. Its very costly to put on these shows and they are taking a very good chance of low attendance. The economy in 2010 isnt looking to good either ;-(

Yeah, this is not a good climate to be in the business of buying, selling or trading video game collectibles, much less hosting a national event for it at great risk and cost.

yeah the way the economy is been going it's hard to keep a show going.
especially a big show like CGE or MGC. a small show like mine(VGS) is doable, but if VGS fails
this year I might hold off a couple years.

Very unfortunate news, looking forward to hearing why there won't be a show again this year.

Wow, just found this out. Big time shocker. CGE is a great show, and it's fantastic to hear from all the great programmers. Well, I am hoping there will be one next year. If CGE can only go once every 3 years than I am cool with that as well. Hey, it means 3 times the prototype releases, and 3 times the new people. Definitely looking forward to next year.

I know there is economic woes widespread, however that means that casinos want more business. The casinos already have said in the news many big businesses do not want to appear frivilous so they have cancelled their conventions. This might have been a decent time for it. Oh well. Next time.

no updates on the site why the show was canceled this year as well no mention of next years show if any.
