This one wasn't on the initial nomination list, but here are some to vote on anyway.

Vote for your favorite!

That should be Civilization IV: Colonization, not just basic Civ IV.

Uh, Civ4 didn't come out in 2008...

Civilization Revolution is my favorite from the year. I've never been able to get into strategy games but this one had me hooked.

I edited that option for you Oob, and thanks for adding this category!

Yay! Glad for the inclusion here. Days of Ruin, hands down. Loved it.

Tough call but I gave it to Civ IV: Rev as a more traditional strategy game though Valkyria Chronicles is the better game (in nearly every respect).

But how anyone can pick Days of Ruin over anything else on this list is a bit baffling. I own it, beat it, and enjoyed it, but it was virtually identical to every other Advance Wars game; small, incremental changes and a progressively darker story.

I guess people just aren't playing the other games.

I didn't know you could play people over Wi-Fi in Dual Strike and the GBA versions. :p That was a huge sell and it's about as addictive as Blizzard B.Net stuff used to be. IMO, of course. Plus, it's portable. :D

Fair enough. I guess I didn't take advantage of that feature, so it didn't immediately come to mind but that is pretty substantial.

Though I do have to ask, for my own gratifiction, did anyone who voted (or will vote) for Days of Ruin play Valkyria Chronicles or Civilization Revolution in 2008?

I played Civ Rev & voted for DOR. Civ Rev is... meh. Every game feels veeeeeery very similar and I did play it a LOT. AI is pretty awful on it, even on the hardest difficulty (it almost never makes armies of 3 units, which is essential). Annoying as hell "cheating" on the number crunching to make the difficulty harder.

Valkyria Chronicles for me. It was the only game on the list that tried something new, while remaining faithful to it's roots.

It's also very easy on the eyes. That never hurts.
